Working Out At Home With RepFitness

I received the following fitness equipment for free to facilitate my post. All opinions are my own.

You guys know how much I love going to the gym. It’s my special escape and is truly my favorite way to treat myself to some “me time”. But somedays, it just doesn’t happen. Somedays motherhood kicks my tail and I just can’t find the time or the energy to actually get out the door and drive to the gym. On those days, I have two choices: curl up on the couch and Netflix binge, or get in a quick workout on the back patio.

Let’s just hold the phone for a second though and be 100% real here, because I know everyone can relate.

If that decision making process were a pie chart, it would most likely look like this:

I’ll let you decide which section is which, but I think we can all conclude that the odds of getting in a workout at home are typically very, very slim. I think there are lots of factors that play into this, like um, toddlers, but I’d say most often it’s primarily due to A. a lack of space to workout in and B. a lack of equipment to workout with. Just like anything else in life, if you don’t have the proper tools, how can you expect to be successful?

Lately though, I’ve been utilizing our back patio more and more and have been loving at-home workouts. Even if they’re super short – 15 minutes here, 15 minutes there, a dozen reps here, a dozen reps there, it all adds up! And for a busy mom, every little bit counts.

When Rep Fitness reached out about two months ago asking if I’d like to try out some of their home fitness equipment, I couldn’t say yes fast enough! Ever since we moved in I’d been wanting to find a few workout staples to keep around the house for when the gym just isn’t going to happen, and this company fit the bill perfectly. They sell a variety of home fitness equipment, and I’m so excited I’ve now discovered them! You can pretty much customize your dream home gym with them – like for real. They have it all! To start out though, I opted to try a plyo box and a set of dumbbells, and it’s a perfect combination for the time being.

The plyo box was super simple to put together, and is incredibly sturdy. It’s screwed together on all sides, multiple times, with an extra solid piece through the middle for added support. This plyo box in particular is 3 different heights, making it so versatile. It’s 16″, 18″, and 20″. I’ve never used a box where I could change up the height, so I’m a big fan!

The dumbbell pair I selected is 15 lbs, which is usually my weight of choice. When I’m at the gym, I’ll drift higher for certain exercises, but for at-home workouts and doing lots of reps, I think 15 is perfect. I love that they have a textured handle, so your sweaty hands won’t slip. And the ends of the weights are a solid rubber. I love weights like this because I feel like they’re not as loud and don’t clang on everything!

I also love that the plyo box allows for so many different exercises, and creativity. You can really can use it in so many unique ways. My absolute favorite way to work quads and glutes are box step-ups. I love turning on a favorite playlist and doing as many as I can. Then add in 30 lbs of weight and you’ll really feel a burn!

Since the box is 3 different heights, you can truly customize it to fit you as best as possible like for box jumps or lunges. For arms, the box is still a solid companion, especially for bodyweight moves like pushups or tricep dips.

When you want to add in weights, you can use it for rows, overhead tricep extensions, seated bicep curls, weighted bridges, the list goes on. You got options, girl!

It may feel sometimes like you need a whole gym in order to accomplish a workout, but you really just need a few pieces you feel comfortable with and a space to use them effectively. Start out by dedicating 15 or 20 minutes at a time, and work your way up. The more convenient you make your workout regimen, the more likely you are to actually do it! So turn off Netflix, and get your sweat on!

Do you workout at home? What kind of at-home workouts do you like? Do you have any equipment at home?

That’s awesome the plyobox can be different heights! I want to eventually get some dumbbells and other at home gym equipment but it’s hard to figure how where I would store it in a one bedroom apartment. I’m definitely going to keep this company in mind for when I get a slightly bigger space for my equipment needs 🙂

They have tons of great options – all different weights and sizes, etc. I love that it’s different heights too, perfect for both me and Adam.

A long time ago our house had an extra bedroom that we used as a home gym. I had an elliptical, weights, balls, a huge mirror, and a tv on the wall. It was amazing and I still daydream about having that in my house again one day!

Hello Sarah, You’re doing fine! How do you combine everything: motherhood, work, home and sports? I also did such exercises, only used a chair. Also recently my sister gave me a slide board, I read about this thing here https://www.bestadvisor.com/slide-boards . Then I bought a couple of DVDs with lessons and you will not believe it works. The movements are like hockey or skiing. I really toned my leg muscles, especially the inner thigh… But I’m worried about how to tighten the abdominal muscles? Can you advise me something?

This is amazing! Doesn’t it feel so good to do something for yourself, that’s so good for you too!? Our schedules don’t line up for me to go to the gym so I LOVE to workout at home! I’ve recently started streaming my workouts from my phone and following along.. I’m obsessed! All I have are some weights, sliders for my feet, and some resistance loops for the leg & booty work! So fun.

That setup looks awesome. Have to say I am bit jealous 🙂

I have been thinking about doing my own setup at home as the transport to the gym takes some time for me. The stuff I was looking at was quite expensive, to be honest. So far I am only doing yoga from home.
