Hey friends!

Remember back in February when I helped promote the Hot Chocolate 15/5k in Nashville and then my husband I both ran it on the coldest day EVER?! You can read all about that fun time HERE. Well guess what, it’s back! And this year, it’s bigger, better, and all 15k finishers will receive a SWEET medal to commend their accomplishment! I’ve got another promo code for you as well, and I think you’ll like what it’s for. Stay tuned, and I’ll share that promo code in just a second! (If you can’t hold your horses, that promo code is “NASHHAT2” and you can register HERE) First here’s a little look at the race itself, and some important details, if you’re new to the Hot Chocolate organization!

This year, the folks who put on the Hot Chocolate series, RAM Racing, are raising money to help support the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville. The Ronald McDonald House aims to “keep families close by providing essential resources and a ‘home away from home’ for families of critically ill children receiving inpatient or outpatient medical care at Nashville area hospitals.” Be sure to check out their site and look into the important work they do on a regular basis! I love running races in general, but especially love to run races that support meaningful charities and truly give back to those in need.

The race itself will take place on February 14, 2015 in downtown Nashville, TN at the Bicentennial State Mall park. This is a really cool area, and the course will run by several scenic and tourist hot spots! Nashville is my hometown, so any race where I ran run through my old stomping grounds is automatically on my radar. There is both a 15k which is 9.3 miles, and a 5k, which is 3.1 miles. The 5k will start at 7:00am, and the 15k will start at 7:55am. You can find all of the nitty gritty details HERE, including info on parking and corrals.

Here’s a closer look at the course…

You can click on that to download a PDF version! Now, the course itself has some hills. But, what goes up, must come down right? It’s not too bad, promise!

There will be a secure gear check, great spectator support, and a fun post-race party afterwards. This race is done right, ya’ll! I was blown away by the amount of organization last year, and I know this year will be no different!

The race has a really fun expo where you’ll pick up your packet the day or two leading up to it, and your packet or “goodie bag” is pretty much the best thing ever! Check it out…

A cozy and WARM fleece lined full-zip hoodie! The hoodie from last year’s race was my saving grace the day off when it ended up being much colder than expected. Oh, and the quality of the hoodie is amazing – definitely something you will want to wear again. This year, the pink is for the ladies, and the guys get the green.

The goods don’t stop there though, and after you complete the race you’ll be handed a delicious hot chocolate bowl with chocolate fondue, dippable treats such as marshmallows and pretzels, and a cup of hot chocolate of course! Running a race knowing there’s plenty of chocolate at the end makes it completely worth it. I don’t want to spoil all the surprises, but there may or may not be free chocolate along the route as well! **heaven!**

You get to keep everything in the bowl, and can even re-use the bowl later on! We loved having such a fun treat to run towards, and it was fun to stand around with other runners and fellow choco-holics and indulge in deliciousness. Not sure if you can tell how freezing we are though, HA. I had several extra layers in the car thankfully, but Adam had to run and grab his peacoat immediately after because it was so cold it was ICING! I’ve got my fingers crossed for no Arctic Blasts this year!

Now, like I mentioned, if you complete the 15k, you’ll also receive a medal! I think it’s safe to say that some of the motivation behind running a longer race is the bling at the end. And even more so when the bling is as cute as this…

I’m loving the Nashville emblem and the guitar representing Music City USA! Too cute. I’m thinking this will look excellent hanging amongst my other medals! And if this is your first longer race (if you opt for the 15k), then what an awesome and memorable way to start out!

Ok, now that you’ve made it this far, let’s talk about the promo code! Who doesn’t love freebies?!

How fun! I wish I could be in Nashville to participate. We were in Chicago this weekend and they had their race on Sunday – it looked like a HUGE turnout!

It should be for a hat! And they just let me know they’ve been having an error with my code – if you could hold off a day or two before using it to make sure it works for sure that would be great!
