Pregnancy: Weeks 13-14

Hello hello party people!

Second trimester is officially on the move! We have another prenatal appointment today (thurs) and I am so excited to hear the heartbeat and check in on the little guy/girl. It’s hard to believe we’ll be scheduling our gender reveal scan at this appointment as well! AH! Can. Not. Wait. I think I have a pretty strong gut feeling, but my gut feeling has been known to be wrong in the past, so I guess I honestly have no idea at this point. I could easily imagine either one blending in with our family perfectly!

So far this week I’ve been able to squeeze in two good long walks, and for that I am quite proud of myself. If I can squeeze in one or two more I will be thrilled! We’re about 14.5 weeks as of today, and I’m cautiously optimistic that the morning sickness saga is slowly but surely fading!

Here are the updates!

13 weeks

13 weeks pregnant

14 weeks

I don’t feel like there was much growth change between these two weeks. I know a lot of growth happened, but I almost feel like I look bigger in the 13 week picture than the 14 week picture. I think we’ve decided it was bloat combined with a big lunch 😉

14 weeks pregnant

All in all, I really am feeling better. At least I think I am. Last week was a little pukey, not gonna lie, and I threw up once this week, but other than that, I DO think the morning sickness is on the way out. I’ve noticed my energy is coming back, mainly because I’m literally not falling asleep at my desk every afternoon anymore! Annnnd I don’t look like a zombie everyday.

As far as other symptoms, just the backache has been the main thing. I’ve never had back pain before in my life, so when this started it REALLY made me thankful for growing up with a chiropractor father! I think it’s just been the result of mechanics starting to change and muscles starting to stretch. It’s so amazing to me how the body reacts to growing a tiny human!! Also, can we say WEIRD??? There is a PERSON growing in my stomach. WHAT! Still can’t get over that.

For a fun story, pregnancy brain is definitely real and it’s kind of hilarious!! I’m pretty sure Adam thinks I’m crazy! Tonight we went out for a date night and when we got home, my keys, like full set of keys, were sitting outside our house on our front walkway. No idea why. I just set them down and left them there. Good thing our house wasn’t robbed, sheesh!

This weekend we get to see Adam’s family and I can’t wait for a little R&R! I’m secretly hoping I can convince the Dr. to give us another ultrasound at our appointment to show off, but I’m thinking it will just be a simple appointment.

I think that about wraps it up! Hooray for second trimester!

What’s going on in your neck of the woods?? Have you seen What To Expect When You’re Expecting? Watching it right now…oh my word, HILARIOUS!

I wish I could tell you that pregnancy brain gets better. I still have it (though I started calling it baby brain) and I have no excuse since my “babies” are almost 7 and 4!

I’m so glad to hear that you’re feeling better! My chiro was my best friend when I was pregnant with Mackenzie. I’ve had issues with back pain for several years thanks to years of cheerleading and gymnastics and it was brutal with the second pregnancy. Our doula told me to go early and go often, so I did 🙂

    Have a great weekend!!

I am counting down the days until I go back home and can get some good adjustments!! My back needs it!! And pregnancy brain is definitely already getting worse…and that’s hilarious, we can just categorize that as “mom brain” 😉

I’m just so glad we’re going through this together! I just hit 13 weeks. The first trimester was seriously NO JOKE! I’m so proud of you for staying so active! I’ve spent the last 3 months in BED! I think i’m starting to feel a little better in my belly though, so hopefully the puking subsides soon 🙂 So glad we’re going through this together!

Me too me too!!! Girl, you’re tellin’ me! It’s been puking almost everyday since about 6.5 weeks! I’m 15 weeks now, and things are calming down…I think, though last week was pretty rough! I imagine you will get through it shortly too!!!! Fingers crossed! So fun to have another buddy who’s so close in timing!!
