Pregnancy: Week 37

I just can’t even believe this. We basically have 2 weeks left from this point! We’ll be 38 weeks on Sunday, so let’s recap (the majority of) week 37. If you need to get caught up, you can read about all things pregnancy HERE.

This week was definitely a turning point in the “I think I’m over being pregnant now” stage. I mean, I am, but I’m not. I know I’ll miss parts of it, but I also know I definitely won’t miss parts of it!

We started the week off with our now-weekly Dr’s appointment on Monday, where we had an ultrasound to confirm her position and check on her size. It was so fun seeing her one more time in utero, but we also could only see little snippets of her because she’s out of room! Our Dr. checked up on her brain, her heart, took some measurements, listened to her heartbeat, and checked on the placenta, fluid levels, etc. Everything checked out great! The only shot of her face we were able to see was her little mouth, and it looked like she was smacking her lips! So sweet. We were able to confirm that she is indeed head down, praise! I’m so so thankful she’s head down, I was so worried she was sideways/transverse there for a while! Her HR was 134 and she’s estimated to already be 7lbs 4oz. This of course is notoriously wrong, so we won’t know for sure what she weighs until she’s born. I’m thinking she’ll be a little smaller than that, but I could be wrong! I can’t imagine carrying a baby closer to 8lbs! Where is she hiding??

After the ultrasound, she measured my belly, and we are still right on track. She also checked me, and I had definitely progressed more than I’d thought, so that was a good sign! Our Dr. seemed pretty surprised as well, so we are now under the assumption that baby girl could really decide to arrive any day now! We go back to the Dr. on Monday, if we make it of course, and I’m excited to hear if I’ve progressed even more!

Side note- I noticed on my Bump app that the option for “I’ve Given Birth” has officially been added. I guess that means we’re getting close!

As far as symptoms go for week 37, I’d say mainly fatigue from lack of sleep, occasional menstrual like cramping, more Braxton Hicks, and achey hips and joints. I think I’m officially waddling, or at least I’m walking way differently than I was! Oh, and heartburn has still been crazy. I’m still eating Tums like they’re going out of style, and it seems to hit whenever it wants to. I’ve had a few mornings where I’ve also felt a little nauseous again, but eating something right away helps. Speaking of feeling sick, this morning I threw up my breakfast when I got to work, something that hasn’t happened in several months! I should have known better though, I haven’t been able to keep eggs down at ALL this pregnancy. But, for some reason breakfast tacos just sounded delicious and I was feeling like I probably wouldn’t have any issues, but I was apparently wrong! UGH! I don’t know what it is about eggs that this little girl doesn’t like.

I’m really just feeling big, obviously, and uncomfortable. But that’s to be expected at almost 38 weeks now. I’d say getting up and out of the car, and constantly getting up from my desk at work is the toughest. Every night when I can finally lay down it’s like a huge relief. I never thought laying down would feel so good!

I’ve had a few people comment on my still visible ankles and non-swollen hands, which is definitely a blessing! I haven’t had any swelling issues and my rings are still on. Of course, knock on wood, we still have a little bit of time left to go. But, I am very thankful that swelling has not been an issue!

Last night I walked for 15 minutes, in the COOL crisp air! AH it felt amazzzzzzing. I’m hoping maybe it helped me progress a tiny bit, but if not, it was a much needed stretch!

I also relaxed last night with a cup of raspberry leaf tea. They say it can help tone your uterus, and encourage smoother contractions. I’d go into more research, but I’ll let you google it on your own. It’s the Traditional Medicinals Herbal Teas Organic Raspberry Leaf brand and it tastes delicious.

I think that about wraps it up – mostly this week consisted of “holy moly she could come any day now!” panic. I tried to take it extra easy up until yesterday, because I wanted to be SURE she would be an October baby. We made it!

Here’s the weekly picture, then I’m out!

We are going to a pumpkin patch tomorrow!
When are you going to stop working? Getting up and down from my desk and out of bed in the morning is definitely getting harder for me.
I’m 30 weeks on Monday and have the dreaded 3-hr glucose test on Tuesday… Wish me luck!!!

You are getting so close!! I had a late term ultrasound as well – and I would keep an open mind on the measurements! They had my guy measuring very tiny in the head and the femur and then huge in the abdomen and he was actually in the 50%ile for just about everything. I can’t believe I carried an 8 lb baby as well! I every time I look at him I am shocked that he fit in my belly!

So you’re reading baby books again too? I just went to library and re-checked out the ones I read and a few new ones. I put them on hold online at 2:00am the other night when I was up and couldn’t sleep! Haha! 🙂
