Here we are at another week! We’re actually almost 18 weeks now (on Sunday) but I didn’t want to post it until after our big gender reveal was out!
Before we start, THANK YOU for all of your sweet words and well wishes for our baby GIRL!!!! We are absolutely thrilled!! I don’t think I’ll ever forget the moment the tech told us it was a girl, and the pure joy that Adam and I both felt immediately! It was surreal!
Anyways, this week didn’t seem too out of the ordinary, other than a little morning sickness still hanging around, and I feel like the bump is definitely starting to “pop” more so than in previous weeks. According to our ultrasound tech (I say tech, but really she’s a super sweet lady who’s been specializing in obstetrical ultrasound for over 20 years) who did our gender scan, she thinks baby girl is about to hit a growth spurt, and I don’t doubt it!
This picture was taken the same day we found out it was a girl, and I think my smile is much more “real” than in some of my other photos, ha!
I’m still having a hard time eating enough, and I’m getting a little worried that maybe I haven’t gained what I should yet. I weighed myself last night and I’m still hovering right around what I was at our 14 week appointment. (Which is still just like, up 4 lbs from my normal weight…) I’m trying to focus on eating more throughout the day, and constantly snacking, as opposed to just eating my three main meals. Sometimes I get SO hungry, like could eat a hippo hungry, but then I’ll sit down to eat and I can barely stomach half my plate. It’s so frustrating! I’m hoping this changes in the next few weeks once my sour stomach is finally done playing games! Thankfully though baby girl looked healthy in her ultrasound, so I know she’s getting what she needs. I’m trying sweet girl!!
As far as maternity clothes go, I’m not in them 100% yet, but I did find a pair of maternity skinny jeans from Old Navy that have been a lifesaver, and I doubt I’ll go back to my normal jeans with the belly band now. They just aren’t nearly as comfortable, and anything that pushes on my lower stomach makes me nauseous still. I also am definitely wearing maxi dresses, skirts, and bigger tops much more frequently, with the occasional maternity tank top or basic t-shirt. Yesterday, I had my first pregnancy inquiry from a stranger, so I obviously am looking the part these days! He was actually very polite and instead of blatantly asking if I was prego he just softly said, “boy or girl?”. I thought of all the ways to ask a stranger if they’re expecting, that might be the least offensive. Unless I had said, “Umm, a girl burrito???” Just kidding, I was thrilled to blurt out, GIRL!!
Here are the take-aways from week 17:
All in all, I feel like my outlook on the pregnancy has completely shifted now that we’ve seen HER and could clearly see how much she looks like a real baby now. It’s crazy! I already can’t wait for our 20 week scan when she’ll look even more like a little person! Ah!
