52 In Pregnancy

It’s A…

This archery inspired gender reveal uses a paint filled balloon and a canvas to create a special keepsake after the big announcement!

I’ve got an announcement to make! We recently found out what Baby Ingle is, and we could not be more excited! But first, here’s a quick look at how he/she measured up in the old wives tales!

Chinese Gender Calendar: GIRL
Salty or Sweet: Salty (boy)
Acne: Not until second trimester, and not a ton (girls steal their mother’s beauty) (both)
Heartburn: Yes, but only after eating sweets (girl)
Headaches: Yes, but only in second trimester (boy)
Sleep side left or right: Left (boy)
Heart rate above or below 140: Above (168, 154, 151) (girl)
Mayan calendar: Both odd (girl)
Husband gaining sympathy weight: No (boy)
Morning sickness: Yes (girl)
Soft or dry hands: Soft (girl)
Graceful or clumsy: Clumsy (boy)
Mood swings/ Moody vs. Mellow: Yes /Moody!!! (girl)
Niece/Nephew predictions: Mixed
General consensus: Pretty split down the middle!
Grandmother prediction: Girl
Dreams: Always girl
True gut feeling: Girl

Here’s the video we made and sent to our families. Watch to find out!

Turns out my dreams were correct!

Baby Ingle is a GIRL!!!!!

She had a strong heart rate of 151, and looked fantastic during the ultrasound! I think I fell in love immediately after seeing HER look so much like an actual baby now, and not just a little peanut.

Little girl was moving around like crazy! She was head down, and kept stretching out like she was about to take a nap. She’d throw her arms back behind her head like she was relaxing, and it was kind of hilarious. The tech mentioned that she looked to be a great size, and that I should start feeling some movement pretty soon with how active she is. Ah!

Adam has thought since day 1 that it was a girl, and I had a pretty early hunch that it was a girl, ESP once my morning sickness started. And over the course of our pregnancy so far, I’ve had FIVE solid “it’s a girl!” dreams. My mom even had a dream that it was a girl like right when we found out we were pregnant. I tried to convince myself that maybe it could be a boy because there’s no way my gut instinct could be that spot-on, and I had read an article online that said whatever you dream is typically opposite of what you end up having. I think in my heart though I knew it was a girl. I’m pretty sure we would have truly been shocked if they had told us boy!

I have always wanted to have a girl first, and a part of me could always see us with a little girl first. I am already dreaming of what she’ll look like, and who she’ll resemble most. Now that we know what Baby Ingle is, I’m feeling like a protective mama bear and want to protect her as much as possible!! Stay away boys! She’s not dating until she’s 25!

Let the shopping begin!

Anywhere that sells paint/art supplies! I bought it at Hobby Lobby. You can get the same kind of similar at places like walmart and Joann’s!

OH MY GOSH sooo exciting! I love reading all the old wives tales because I swear I didn’t follow any of them but the heart rate!!! My baby is a little boy and he’s heart rate was always 130-140 (though last check up he was 150!)…plus my husband has FOR SURE gained sympathy weight..lol.. (though I don’t tell him that) I’ve always heard the more morning sickness you have, it’s a girl..but I guess it’s so hard to know!

So so exciting! I found once I found out, I had such a deeper connection..like you could nickname it something other then like peanut or Figgy lol….

Hi! Oh, it really doesn’t matter how much paint you put in it! We just used a regular sized black balloon and squeezed in maybe half a small little thing of paint from hobby lobby? We did a test run first though before we filmed it 🙂

I think we bought the little tube of paint at Hobby Lobby – it was just a small little tube of basic acryllic paint, like super super cheap! We used maybe half of the container and after we’d tied off the balloon we shook the balloon a little so the paint could coat the inside of the balloon! Hope that helps!! It was just a little thing of paint, similar to this one…http://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-Barrel-Matte-Acrylic-Paint-2-oz/21778075

Saw your video of the balloon. I’m hosting a gender reveal party and wanted some tips on the balloon. Did you fill it up a lot with paint? Did you water down the paint at all?

I did not! We just held open the balloon, squeezed in the paint, then blew up the balloon as much as we could and attached it to the canvas with a pin or tape, I can’t remember 🙂

I didn’t put a TON of paint in it by any means, certainly not even halfway! And once you blow up the balloon, you can kind of shake it and get the paint to coat inside the balloon really well!

This is so cute! We are doing something similar in a few weeks! I came across your blog on Pinterest! Can I ask, did you fill the entire balloon with paint or did you fill it with air & then add the paint? We aren’t sure what is the best way!

Hi Elena! Thank you! That is so exciting!! I would love to hear how yours turns out 🙂 do you know if you’ll be revealing pink or blue yet? We held the opening of the balloon as open as we could, then squeezed in the paint, THEN blew up the balloon and tied it off. I actually detailed it all here: http://sweetmiles.com/paint-balloon-archery-inspired-gender-reveal/

This is very creative! I have an ultrasound studio and we do gender determinations. Moms are always asking for gender reveal ideas. Currently we only offer a nice box that is colored pink and blue and you put a stuffed animal in it that is either pink or blue or a pink or blue accessory. Pull out the animal and viola but, I think people are looking for things like this that are more creative. Good Job!
