Hello Bello: My Review

You guys know I love a good “clean” product, hence my love for all things Beautycounter! Well, over the past few months we’ve been dipping our toes in the Hello Bello line from Walmart! I think in the world of clean living, you just have to find what works best for you, and with the influx of new “clean” products coming to market, there really are lots of great options out there worth trying. (Just remember that not all clean products are created equal – it’s still best to do your own research!)

hello bello review

Hello Bello is a line of premium plant-based baby products from none other than Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard, available exclusively at Walmart, at ridiculously affordable prices. They remind me a lot of Honest products, but I’ve actually been way more impressed! Their branding had me at hello, literally, and with what I’ve learned through Beautycounter, I feel pretty comfortable with their product lineup, considering I can grab it all at Walmart on a whim! They don’t use things like fragrance, phthalates, or parabens, and they specifically say they “avoid chemicals of concern.” (They provide a detailed ingredient list for every product online, which is so nice! For instance, scroll to see the details they provide for the Bubble Bath! They even tell you what each ingredient is for!) They focus on using organic, non-gmo, and plant-based ingredients when and where they can, and I LOVE that one of their mottos is “premium for all, and not premium for some.” Amen to that! We’ve tried 4 things thus far, and I’ll break them down below and share my review of each!

The products we’ve tried so far are:

  • Hello Bello Diapers – Hear Our Roar + Beach Bums
  • Hello Bello Baby Wipes
  • Hello Bello Premium Bubble Bath, Lavender
  • Hello Bello Mineral Sunscreen Lotion

Hello Bello Diapers

Ok first, let’s talk about the big one! The diapers! I wouldn’t call myself a diaper snob, but I definitely have my preferences and over the years have found ones I prefer more than others. (Disclaimer: my all time FAVES are Parasol, but they’re just a little out of our budget right now so we haven’t even used them on B!) You guys, I think I’ve found a new FAVORITE diaper though! ESPECIALLY because they are SO affordable. If you’re a price checker and like to pinpoint your cost-per-diaper, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised by these. We’ve officially decided to buy these every time we can, and have based our budget off of them. But I know you’re also wondering, why are they so great and do they even perform well? YES! The first thing I commented on when I opened a box up for the first time was how soft they are. They are so, so soft, it’s crazy, and the designs on them are adorable! Not to mention they are hypoallergenic, eco-friendly, made without lotion/fragrance/phthalates/latex, have a super snug fit with some pretty cool anti-leakage technology I won’t bore you with, are designed to be both day + nighttime diapers, and again, so affordable. LOVE. 10/10 would recommend.

A size 4, 74 count box will run you $23.94 at Walmart, whereas a size 4, 52 count Pampers Pure box will run you $24.94.

hello bello wipes review

Hello Bello Baby Wipes

Up next, the wipes! Again, I wouldn’t say I’m a wipes snob, but I do have my preferences. I mean, at their core, wipes just wipe up poop, and pee, and messes, and do they really need to be fancy? No, but they do need to be thicker than a single ply piece of TP, not full of crappy chemicals, and moist enough to actually do their job! And guys, Hello Bello Baby Wipes are pretty legit. (I have one complaint though, that I’ll save ’till the end!) If you’ve used Honest wipes, or Parasol wipes, even Water Wipes or other more “top of the line” baby wipes, you know what I’m talking about when I say some wipes are definitely better than others! Hello Bello Baby Wipes have more of a cloth-like feel to them, and they are textured and slightly thicker than your average wipe I’d say. They are also 99%+ water, so essentially a Water Wipe almost. They’re fragrance free, biodegradable, and they work really well! They’re also the most cost effective wipes I’ve found in a while. A single pack of Hello Bello wipes at Walmart, 60 count, will run you $1.98. Whereas a single pack of Pampers Sensitive baby wipes at Walmart, 56 count, will run you $1.97, but contain who knows what. Not bad, eh? We buy the 3 count most often.

My only complaint is that because of their texture, they tend to come out more than 1 a at a time. So if you pull 1 out quickly, you’ll sometimes actually end up with 2 or 3. Which is super annoying. Honest wipes do this to me too. I’ve found though if I can kind of get my finger under one side of it when I pull it out, I avoid inevitably having to shove back in the extra one that comes out on accident. Because of this, 9/10 would recommend.

hello bello bubble bath review

Hello Bello Premium Bubble Bath

Yaaaaaaassssss. This was actually the first Hello Bello product we tried because I had desperately been searching for a cleaner bubble bath alternative for my girly girl! I am so glad I tried it out! It’s because of this product that we decided to try a few more Hello Bello products! This bubble bath is such a great safer bubble bath option for littles. I love it so much! It smells amazing, bubbles up nicely, and I feel much better letting my girl soak in it for as long as she wants! It’s tear free, gentle, and chock full of yummy things like calendula and jojoba seed extract. It’s made without a lot of the nasty things usually found in bubble bath formulations, and it’s just.so.good. It’s $5.98 (10 fl oz), and we’re only on our second bottle. Honest bubble bath is $10.79 (12 fl oz). 10/10 would recommend.

hello bello sunscreen
I realize this isn’t the best picture, ha! But, I wanted to just show you the texture! It rubs in very easily, and falls right in the middle of being too thick or too watery.

Hello Bello Mineral Sunscreen

Lastly, the mineral sunscreen! You guys know I don’t mess around when it comes to sunscreen and will only use mineral sunscreens from here on out. Let me start by saying, I will ALWAYS recommend Beautycounter above anything else. It’s the best. But, let’s be real. It’s expensive! There’s just no way around it. It’s a battle that Beautycounter will always have to fight with consumers, I’m afraid. I firmly believe you get what you pay for, but at some point, mama needs something cheaper. (I KNOW! Trust me!) I have found a few alternatives I feel confident using on my family, and recently have added Hello Bello’s SPH 50 Mineral Sunscreen to my list! It passes with flying colors and we are taking it to the beach with us alongside our BC stash. The best part? I’m torn between the fact that it actually works or the fact that it’s only $9!

Hello Bello’s Mineral Sunscreen is similar to Beautycounter’s Countersun in that it uses a non-nani zinc oxide formulation, as opposed to harmful chemicals such as oxybenzone. It’s a broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPH 50, that is also water resistant for 80 minutes. Check out all of the things it DOESN’T contain! (If your current sunscreen has these ingredients, I still don’t understand why you would use it, but I digress!)

Because it’s not Beautycounter, I would say 9/10 recommend. It’s a fantastic alternative, that is also great for your budget! I’ve used it on both A + B, and so far have had no issues! It will run for $8.78 at Walmart.

Basically, we have loved everything we’ve tried, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a few more items. I need to pick up the shampoo/body wash next time I’m at Walmart, and I’d love to try the diaper rash cream just so I can give my honest review of it as well! I love BC’s kid’s line and baby line, but again, it’s SO nice to have a safe alternative, that’s super convenient, and a little easier on my wallet when I need it to be!

Let me know what you’ve tried and what you think!

Initially gave the shampoo/body wash a try because I looooove a good apricot-y scent (Hello Bello’s is vanilla apricot) and it is fantastic! I’ve since picked up the body lotion and, ahem, might use that one more on myself than the baby… 🙂

Thank you for this! I’ve seen this packaging at Walmart and been curious but honestly didn’t even look closely because I just assumed it would be really expensive. I honestly try to avoid Walmart (this ones near me are SKETCHY I’m just saying it’s the truth), but next time I go I’ll have to grab some of this!

Haha! We have a few really nice ones around here, but the closest one to us is kind of like that – not exactly my favorite place in the world to shop! Ha!

P.s. This is the sunscreen I’ve been using for 2 years. The ingredients list doesn’t (I think) have any of the stuff you listed above. I really like it, but it’s not $9! 😉
