Life in Texas: Playroom Progress

Happy Friday!

Anyone else desperately need a weekend? It’s been a long, busy week with unpacking, working, and chasing Adeline up and down our new stairs. But really, this girl LOVES our stairs but thankfully we finally got both baby gates set up so things should get easier! I had no idea how hard it is to unpack! I feel like it’s going to take forever. I’m thinking I need to go room by room though, and so far I’ve focused most of my attention in the kitchen and that’s seemed to ease a little stress.

But, this weekend I am so excited to chill and spend some time finishing up the playroom! We’ve done a few things so far, and Adeline is loving how spacious it is. She runs around in circles, jumps on the couch, and screams “daddy” from the balcony like Rapunzel in her tower. The room is off-white/beige in color, so we probably won’t paint it for a while. I figure since it’s a playroom and it’s going to get messy, I’d rather not spend a lot of money painting it just yet.

For all those following along with our move, I thought I’d share a tiny sneak peek into our playroom progress. It’s not much, but it’s coming right along, and I think it’s going to be adorable! (Eventually!) We’ve got the basics unpacked – couch, rug, accent pillows, her sofa chair, and recently I purchased a unicorn head, and added her growth chart that my SIL made for her. I’ve got P-L-A (still need to pick up the Y) in the galvanized letters I want to hang above the bookshelf, and I’ve got the bookshelf and cubes ready to be put together! I’ve been browsing online to find the perfect piece of FUN artwork to go in the giant blank space above her chair, but I can’t decide what I want. I might actually hang one of my canvas photos of her – maybe??

Across the room is the balcony opening, and a wall that has her table/chairs. Above her little table and chairs I’m planning on displaying her artwork somehow – but the jury is still out on that. I’m thinking just a simple strand of jute with clothespins though. Let’s talk about her table though for a second. It melts my heart every time she sits down at it because she wants to color! I’m envisioning crayon scratches and paint and marker all over the wall behind it at some point, but I’m ok with that!

I’ll be sure to do a full playroom reveal once I’ve got everything hung, organized, and decked out ready for hours of play! I’ve dreamed and dreams of having a playroom to decorate, and now that’s finally here I want it to be perfect! I have so many ideas running through my head I can’t wait to pull it all together.

On the fitness front, maybe this will be the weekend that we re-join a gym and start getting our butts back in shape. I feel so lethargic and just blah after not working out basically for an entire month. UGH. Somebody please send me some motivation! Remember back in the day when Sweet Miles was straight up a running blog? My how things have changed, ha! I have big goals in mind for getting my blog back on track – so please hang tight! Sometimes I think blogging comes with a little soul searching. Anyone else agree?

Anyways, after such a long week, I’m hoping to maybe unplug a bit this weekend, and spend a little extra time away from my phone. I’ve found that I’m the happiest on weekends where I mostly ignore social media (minus occasionally posting to Instagram because it’s basically my scrapbook these days!). I deleted Facebook off my phone back in March, and up until a few weeks ago it was still deleted. I recently added it back though, but have it on the very last homepage so it’s less easy to get to. It’s definitely made a big difference to not see it the second I open up my phone! I think taking breaks from social media are so important in today’s society – so cheers to logging out more than usual this weekend!

Miss my latest post? Check it out next!

What are your weekend plans?  Do you have a playroom? What’s your least favorite part about moving?

Thanks! I can’t wait to finish it, but I think it won’t really be finished ever! I think it will keep evolving!

    Love seeing your moving progress!

I found joining our local running club has helped me stay motivated working out! I joined the 600 mile club which is about 12 miles a week and has kept me moving. I also joined Grand Prix which has me running races and if I’m constantly signed up for a race (about 1 race per month), in always training! And when I don’t feel like running, cross fit in our garage is what I do! Hoping you find some motivation out there- fitness is my “me” time since having a baby and helps me keep my sanity!

Yay, so cute! I love her little chair 🙂 I’m posting about our new playroom next week – I think it’s the most fun room to design because you can be so creative!

Ooh I can’t wait to hear about your blog goals! 🙂

I just joined a new gym last week and I am so excited! I splurged, but I’ve been going to a lot of boutique classes and spending too much, so my new gym has it all in one place!

Thanks! Eventually I’ll get my act together and actually blog about it 😉 Yay new gym!! We’re gym shopping right now, and I can’t wait to get a gym that will fit our new routine and make it a regular habit!
