Fun Stocking Stuffers and Small Gifts for Baby’s First Christmas

This post is in partnership with buybuy BABY.

One of my favorite parts about Christmas is picking out the perfect stocking stuffers. And if you’re anything like me, you tend to wait until the last minute to do this! Once we’ve got everything on our shopping list crossed off, wrapped, and under the tree (or hidden away!), then I finally feel like I have the mental capacity to tackle the stockings. For some reason, stocking stuffers just naturally come last – like the grande finale of Christmas shopping. And baby’s first stocking? It’s the BEST one to fill!

With stocking stuffers, we like to go the practical, high quality route. Of course, we both love the Silly Putty, Candy Cane M&M’s, and the joke can of Flarp every now and then, but since having little ones, we’ve tried to keep our stockings not only budget friendly, but full of things the kids, and us, will actually use and enjoy. More often than not stocking stuffers end up in a plastic sack, shoved in a drawer somewhere. So to prevent this, we try to put a little extra thought into what we purchase. And since we’re filling up a fourth stocking this year, and a baby’s stocking at that, we (I mean, Santa) tried to stick with small, simple toys that will be easy for little hands to hold and play with, as well as fun finds he can grow with over the next few months. He’ll be 4 months old this Christmas, which means he’s found his hands, and teething is just around the corner! He’s starting to want to hold, and grip things, and I see his curiosity grow a little more each day. The place we’ve found the majority of his stocking stuffers? buybuy BABY, of course. I mean, what do they not have?

I’m so excited for Santa to fill our stockings this year, and to experience B’s first Christmas. I know he won’t remember it, or be able to unwrap anything like his big sis, but we will remember every second. I can’t wait to start watching him “play” with these fun little toys and knick knacks, and think they will be perfect for sparking his little imagination. We stuck with items that would be great for the diaper bag, church, car, stroller, and even just lounging at home in the bouncer or bumbo seat. Picking out items for his stocking that we didn’t already have from when A was a baby proved to be a challenge, but I think baby brother is going to have his own fun little stash of toys by the time Christmas is over. buybuy BABY has the best selection of colorful, unique stocking stuffers for babies, and I’m excited with how B’s stocking is turning out! We also picked up a few ‘larger’ items, that won’t quite fit in his stocking, but that Santa can leave out on Christmas morning. My favorite? The “My First Barnyard Friends” set! SO CUTE! Pretty soon his little hands and slobbery mouth are going to love grasping those farm animals.

Here’s a peek into B’s stocking. And again, all of these items can be found at buybuy BABY, and were super affordable.

stocking stuffer ideas for babies
  • 2 tiny bath books (similar but these were both found by the register, probably $1 a piece)

Here are the larger items we picked up that won’t necessarily fit in his stocking, but are still perfect for his age.

How cute is this?! My Barnyard Friends comes with a pig, a chick, a cow, and a rooster and they each make noise when turned over.

I think all that’s left is adding in a pack of wipes, and maybe some diaper rash cream, and voila! Baby’s first stocking is DONE!

What’s on your stocking stuffer list? Have you checked out buybuy BABY for stocking stuffers for your littles? Do you do practical stocking stuffers or stick to fun?

SO so cute. Great ideas! I went practical with some of ours- toothbrushes, underwear, etc. but then I added in some fun things for the bath and from the Target Dollar spot (which really isn’t a dollar anymore, lol) . I kept them a little more low key because I am just so over the little pieces of stuff everywhere, ha!

I’m really obsessed with cute pacifier clips right now. I want to buy some for our Christmas baby but I’m too paranoid that he’ll be like big brother and not take a pacifier. But they would definitely make great stocking stuffers!

For sure! My favorite clips with A were these leather braided ones I found on Etsy – so cute!

These stocking stuffers look adorable! I’m thinking of getting some cute pacifiers for my baby so she has something to suck on during nap time.
