This week has been somewhat momentous in the Ingle household. Why you ask? Because this mama is back to running! Kind of. (Remember when I used to be a runner? Like, the reason I started this blog in the first place??)
I officially started running (read: faster than a fast walk but not quite a sprint…kind of like the speed I’d run on Black Friday at Target. A good medium jog) with Adeline in our new jogging stroller, and I could not be more excited. I finally feel like my body can handle it, and I don’t feel like an old machine that is still in desperate need of some WD40.
We recently purchased the EvenFlo Invigor8 Platinum jogging stroller from Babies R Us. I’m usually a researcher, and while I did research the 50 billion different types of jogging strollers out there, I got excited and pulled the trigger on a very plain jane no bells and whistles jogger, that was on clearance. I figured I would eventually upgrade to a nicer one if I really enjoyed running with it, and after two runs I already feel like I need to upgrade. If I hadn’t bought the jogger with a gift card, I’d feel really guilty about this. I would never recommend this jogger. First jog – it was great. Loved it. Maybe it was the runner’s high talking from a runner who’s been run deprived for approximately 15 months. Second jog – hated it. Every pebble we hit felt like we’d run over a body. Zero storage. Seat barely reclines so Adeline sits back in a somewhat awkward position. And the canopy is basically useless. Meh. You live and you learn. I’m still not convinced I should spend the money on a Bob, so I’m leaning towards a Graco. We shall see. I still have some credit on the gift card I used, so it’s not a complete lost cause. I try to keep it real on Sweet Miles with honest reviews – so there’s your honest, real life review for the week. I’ll probably end up trying to sell it on Craigslist, so in that case – it’s great and you will TOTAAALLLLLLY love it.
Even though I’m not head over heels for our current jogging stroller situation – I AM head over heels for running with my sweet baby girl. If there’s one thing postpartum that makes me feel the most like my old self, it’s running. And what a dream it is to also run with Adeline, and share that time with her.
Our first night out, we covered about a mile and half, before arriving back home ready to pass the heck out for the night. It was a pretty hot evening, and when I got home I really thought I might die. Adeline loved it, as evidenced below.
^ I don’t always try to look attractive while I run, but when I do I wear my husband’s dirty oversized undershirt. NBD.
Who wouldn’t love running with that face?! ^^^^^
Our second night out, it was a bit cooler and less humid, and we also were a bit more ballsy. We covered about three miles total, and it felt amazing!! I run/walked it, though I definitely ran more than I walked, which I’m proud of. We’re not running fast by any means, but we’re running!
The highlight of our second run? HELLO! Adeline’s new shoes!!
New Balance graciously sent us the absolute most adorable baby tennis shoes I’ve ever seen in my entire life. We think they are hilarious and couldn’t stop taking pictures of her in them. I can’t even handle the cuteness. Literally, my heart might explode.
I’ll be sharing more about these in a few days, so stay tuned!
Enjoy your weekend!
What jogging stroller do you have? Do you run with your kids? If you don’t have kids, what race are you running next? On a scale of 1-10, how cute are those shoes?!
