Our First Two Stroller Runs

Happy Friday!

This week has been somewhat momentous in the Ingle household. Why you ask? Because this mama is back to running! Kind of. (Remember when I used to be a runner? Like, the reason I started this blog in the first place??)

I officially started running (read: faster than a fast walk but not quite a sprint…kind of like the speed I’d run on Black Friday at Target. A good medium jog) with Adeline in our new jogging stroller, and I could not be more excited. I finally feel like my body can handle it, and I don’t feel like an old machine that is still in desperate need of some WD40.

We recently purchased the EvenFlo Invigor8 Platinum jogging stroller from Babies R Us. I’m usually a researcher, and while I did research the 50 billion different types of jogging strollers out there, I got excited and pulled the trigger on a very plain jane no bells and whistles jogger, that was on clearance. I figured I would eventually upgrade to a nicer one if I really enjoyed running with it, and after two runs I already feel like I need to upgrade. If I hadn’t bought the jogger with a gift card, I’d feel really guilty about this. I would never recommend this jogger. First jog – it was great. Loved it. Maybe it was the runner’s high talking from a runner who’s been run deprived for approximately 15 months. Second jog – hated it. Every pebble we hit felt like we’d run over a body. Zero storage. Seat barely reclines so Adeline sits back in a somewhat awkward position. And the canopy is basically useless. Meh. You live and you learn. I’m still not convinced I should spend the money on a Bob, so I’m leaning towards a Graco. We shall see. I still have some credit on the gift card I used, so it’s not a complete lost cause. I try to keep it real on Sweet Miles with honest reviews – so there’s your honest, real life review for the week. I’ll probably end up trying to sell it on Craigslist, so in that case – it’s great and you will TOTAAALLLLLLY love it.

Even though I’m not head over heels for our current jogging stroller situation – I AM head over heels for running with my sweet baby girl. If there’s one thing postpartum that makes me feel the most like my old self, it’s running. And what a dream it is to also run with Adeline, and share that time with her.

Our first night out, we covered about a mile and half, before arriving back home ready to pass the heck out for the night. It was a pretty hot evening, and when I got home I really thought I might die. Adeline loved it, as evidenced below.

^ I don’t always try to look attractive while I run, but when I do I wear my husband’s dirty oversized undershirt. NBD.

Who wouldn’t love running with that face?! ^^^^^

Our second night out, it was a bit cooler and less humid, and we also were a bit more ballsy. We covered about three miles total, and it felt amazing!! I run/walked it, though I definitely ran more than I walked, which I’m proud of. We’re not running fast by any means, but we’re running!

The highlight of our second run? HELLO! Adeline’s new shoes!!

New Balance graciously sent us the absolute most adorable baby tennis shoes I’ve ever seen in my entire life. We think they are hilarious and couldn’t stop taking pictures of her in them. I can’t even handle the cuteness. Literally, my heart might explode.

I’ll be sharing more about these in a few days, so stay tuned!

Enjoy your weekend!

What jogging stroller do you have? Do you run with your kids? If you don’t have kids, what race are you running next? On a scale of 1-10, how cute are those shoes?!

Those are the cutest shoes ever oh my gosh! I used to work at Finish Line and was way too obsessed with the little baby/toddler sneakers haha. That’s so exciting about stroller running! I feel like it would be way harder than regular running too since you’re pushing something, so huge props to you! I have a half next weekend in Chicago and for once I’m not stressing/nervous about it at all and mostly just really excited!

haha they are pretty stinkin’ cute. Love Finish Line! Did you get to wear a cool black and white striped ref shirt? Do they still do that?? Ha! It is definitely harder to push a stroller and run at the same time than I thought it would be. Yay for another half! You are going to kill it! That’s always nice when you’re not stressed about a run! Good luck!

Baby running shoes! I love it. Sooooo cute! Also, plug for the Bob. That thing is as smooth as butter. Seriously, I think it’s completely worth the money. I’ve been pushing R on runs since around 3 months old, and it’s awesome. I even pushed her in a 10k with it, and it was great. Way to go getting back to it, girl!

hehehe aren’t they to die for?! Even though she’ll wear them for like two seconds before she outgrows them…oh well! Girl I believe you on the Bob, maybe someday I will take the plunge and buy one! Dream stroller for sure. How is Miss R doing?! I need to get caught up on your blog asap!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the graco click connect jogger. It is SO smooth and much more affordable than the bob. The only thing I’d say was a complaint is the shade doesn’t go completely forward if that makes sense. But Annabelle loves it!

That’s what I ended up getting! I had actually registered for it originally and then changed my mind and got the one that’s a step down instead since I knew I wouldn’t be jogging right away, so now I’ve got like three strollers that are compatible with our car seat, AH! I see what you mean about the shade now – but it is WAAAAAY better than the evenflo one!

I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times but the bob is totally worth it!!!! It is so smooth and really isn’t hard to run with at all! We pretty much use the Bob for everything, we’ve even traveled with it a few times and are planning on bringing it with us to Eugene in July for the track Olympic trials!! It seems pretty comfy too – My baby girl just loves it!

Yesssss love the Bob!! I just can’t bring myself to pay $499 for a new one, GAH! I told myself if I get really serious about stroller running that maybe I’d take the plunge, but for now I exchanged the evenflo piece of poop stroller and got a Graco! Ha! Ummm track Olympic trials in Eugene this summer?! JEALOUS! That sounds like so much fun!!!

I have a Joovy Zoom 360 single jogger and a BOB double. I love them both. The Joovy is only slightly less expensive than the BOB and I think it handles just as well. The shocks are fantastic and we have taken it on trails many times and I trained for a half with it, so it can handle a lot of miles. If they made it in a double, I would have gotten one! My double was a recent purchase (it’s hard to swallow $700 for a stroller!!) but I could never find the model I wanted used…but I suggest looking at Craigslist for a used one!

I’ve heard great things about the Joovy! And a Bob is like my dream stroller, ha! That is awesome that you’ve taken the Joovy on trails and trained for a half with it – thanks so much for sharing!! I actually recently looked on Craigslist for a Bob and saw quite a few in my area, but I couldn’t bring myself to buying a used one..is that bad?? I’m sure it would have been great though! I ended up taking back the EvenFlo and getting a Graco, eek! I’ll be sharing more about it soon!

I just had my first child (daughter!) about 14 weeks ago, and I’m definitely ready to get back into my running routine! Seeing ‘running moms’ out there kicking butt is so inspiring and motivating. And thanks so much for that great stroller recommendation! It’s definitely something I’m going to check out. (And omg I love, love, LOVE those adorable little New Balance shoes! Those are definitely going on my wishlist!)

The NewBalance baby shoes look great! I wish I had one pair for my little son. The colour doesn’t bother me, I think it is alright for baby boys. Stroller runs are what my wife did to loose the postpartum weight.
