8 Miles In The Prettiest Running Leggings

Happy Thursday! We’re so close to another beautiful fall weekend I can almost taste it!!

I’m back on the exercise train this week and I think I’ve officially got a habit under my belt. I mentioned last week that I was on week two of running, and we’re almost through week three! While going to the gym at night is the last thing I want to do after working all day, playing mom, and getting dinner plans in order, I can already tell a huge difference in how I feel. Totally worth it!

Let’s recap this week’s runs. So far. Hoping to squeeze in one more.

Monday night I ran 4 miles, at a negative split. Don’t get too excited, my splits are still nowhere near what they were two years ago, but we’re getting there! Slowly. I did 10:10, 10:00, 9:50, 9:40 and somehow it felt anything but slow! Whew. I felt great when I finished, and thought I probably could have kept going. Good sign!

I’ve been mostly working on making sure I can actually run full miles again, even if that means slowly. I really want to increase my endurance, but also my overall speed, of course. It’s definitely hard to focus on both, but that’s what I’ve always done so I’m trying to stick with what I know works. Increasing the speed by just a few seconds each mile helps you finish strong and keep pushing! Then the next time you go back, increase everything a little bit more.

Last night I also ran 4 miles. But instead of focusing on just running 4 miles straight, which is what I’ve done the past few weeks, I opted for intervals. Also because #election and I barely got any sleep the night before so I needed something a little more exciting! I did mostly half-mile intervals all the way to 4 miles, ranging in pace from 10:00 up to 8:49. Each half mile I bumped up the pace, and ran a little bit harder. I actually ended up covering more than 4 miles because I brisk walked .1 between each half mile interval. It was sweat-tastic, and left me feeling all of the endorphins and ready to take on the remainder of the week.

Now, these leggings. I’ve gotten several questions about them, so I thought I’d share! Adam got them for me recently from My Protein, which is where he orders all of his protein powder and supplements for his workout regimen. Funny story, I actually reviewed My Protein back in the day before his big leaf turning! I had no idea My Protein even carried any clothing, but Adam found these on sale and knew I’d love them so he surprised me with them!

I LOVE them!! I’m obsessed with the bright geometric colors and pattern. (They remind me a little of the Pins to Kill leggings I received earlier this year!)Working out is so much more fun with cute workout clothes! I 100% believe that. Now, they’re thinner than some of my other tights, but they aren’t see-thru, and they still feel sturdy and high quality. They’re high-waisted, which is nice, but I’m on the shorter side so I do wish they maybe weren’t so high waisted. (This might also be because I’ve still got the mom-pooch, ugh.)

Quick facts from their site –

  • “4 way stretch wrap knit for comfort and support
  • Isotherm technology to keep your body at the optimal temperature
  • Yarn woven with silver to prevent odours”

Sizing wise, I debated back and forth but ended up ordering the UK 6, which is supposed to be a US 4. The leggings fit perfectly everywhere except the very top part of the waist when I first pull them on. The way they’re sewn, they feel like they’re smaller there than anywhere, and they almost cut into my stomach a little. If that makes sense. Like I wish the waist was a more stretchy elastic. However, small complaint because the leggings are the most beautiful leggings in all the land!

I’m super excited to feel myself really making progress! A little bit stronger every time.

How’s your week going? Do you prefer bright and loud workout apparel or neutrals? Would you rock these leggings to the gym?

Love the leggings, and I’m a total fan of bright leggings for working out! And I will go ahead and say your workouts have encouraged me to really get back to running! We have a treadmill in our garage plus crossfit equipment so I really have no excuses! I’ve been pretty good about doing wod’s but not so much running and if you’re like me, running is where I see the most change as far as slimming up! I ran Monday night and Tuesday night and did a quick workout last night after my 6 mo old was in bed! So thanks for the encouragement!!!

I am totally into loud leggings- Gap has really good ones right now!

Way to go on getting back into the habit! Working out is my #1 sanity keeper. Having work crews at our house at 7:00am for the past three months has done wonders for me getting up and out to the gym. The motivation to get ready in peace has finally gotten me into the habit!

Super cute leggings! I’m wondering what your gym schedule looks like in the evenings. After working all day, I don’t get home until 5:00, and then R eats at 6:00 and is down by 7:30, but in the meantime I’m cooking dinner and trying to spend quality time with her. I don’t usually get to eat it until after she goes to bed. But by that time I’m STARVING and can’t imagine working out instead of eating, but I also can’t scarf dinner and then go running right after. My stomach wouldn’t like that. That’s why I have a lot of trouble getting to the gym at night. Wondering what you do that maybe I can learn from. Thanks!

haha, well, it does vary every night! I should do a day-in-the-life post soon!! But basically, I work from home now, but A. still goes to daycare 3/5 days of the week. Sometimes 4, sometimes the whole week. But most weeks, I try and keep her home with me 1 or 2 days if my schedule/meetings/conference calls allow for me to balance the chaos of it. So usually on the days I DO keep her home AND/OR I pick her up an hour or two early from daycare, those are the days I’ll work out bc I don’t feel as guilty leaving right before bedtime. Our evenings on nights when I go to the gym (and keep in mind this like just started haha) – Adam gets home from work between 530 and 545, we all hang out, play, whatever, then feed A. dinner around 615, sometimes we’ll eat at the same time or we’ll eat later. Bathtime is usually 645, and then we try to start her bottle at 7, and hopefully she’s asleep by 730. If I go to the gym, I’ll give her a quick bath, then Adam will do bottle/bed and I can be out the door for the gym by 7:05 or so. Work out for 45 mins or an hour or so, and I’m usually home by 815, maybe 830. Then either we’ll eat a quick dinner if we haven’t already, or I’ll get some work done while he plays video games or we’ll watch a show together haha. Nothing too magical over here! 😉 Being a working mom definitely makes it hard to squeeze in gym time. I could never workout first thing in the morning, but it would make my day much easier I’m sure, I just can’t sacrifice sleep haha

Thanks! Yeah that’s my problem too. I would love to get in the habit of waking up earlier, but I just can’t at this point. Sounds similar to our evenings… I just can’t wait that long to eat. Ah! The struggle is real 🙂

Squeezing 45mins first thing in the morning is quite ambitous, but a quick morning run isn’t. And it gets easier as the kdis grow, as there is more ‘me’ time for us, moms
