I’m back from one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time! My best friend got married, and we spent the weekend celebrating she and her husband, catching up with friends and family, and dancing the night away at her wedding. I wish I had more pictures to share, but the only ones I took were of the bridesmaid luncheon and rehearsal dinner, then just the few iPhone pics below on the actual wedding day. I don’t even have a picture of the bride and I on my phone because we were so busy! (I’m a little sad about that, so I’m anxiously awaiting the photographer’s photos! Which I’m sure Lauren is too!) I was on full Matron of Honor duty, and completely forgot to pull her aside to snap one!
The happy couple is currently enjoying their first week of married life on the beautiful beaches of Mexico. I’m so incredibly thrilled for my sweet friends, and can’t believe this wedding finally happened! It was a long time coming, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. I had so much fun getting to know both of their families, and know they are both surrounded by amazing support systems!
Here are a few deets about the wedding itself:
Location: Nashville Zoo at Grassmere
Colors: Merlot and White
Flowers: White hydrangeas and white roses
Bridal Party: 6 ‘maids, 7 dudes (I think)
Photographer: Matt Andrews Photography (He was awesome!)
The actual ceremony took place in the garden behind the old historic home that the zoo surrounds. It’s a beautiful plantation home, and the ceremony was basically in its backyard. The reception was nearby in a large tent. Since the weather turned out to be much cooler than anyone anticipated (see jackets, tights, and cardigans in the photos below), the tent had its walls down and a few space heaters were brought in. Sunday was actually much warmer than Saturday, and Saturday we about froze at the rehearsal dinner. Who knew the first weekend in October would have a major cold spell? I’m glad it turned cooler though, instead of hotter, and I think it helped the wedding feel much more “fall-ish”. She really lucked out on weather though, and all day Sunday the skies were blue, there was a light breeze, and highs topped out in the 70’s. Amazing!
After the ceremony, we enjoyed cocktail hour at the carousel. And by carousel, I mean HUGE vintage carousel which we all rode and battled for the best animals. I think the best sight ever was seeing the bride take a spin on the kangaroo, with her long train draping down behind her. During wedding party photos, we actually took a few on the carousel as well, and I CAN’T WAIT to see how those turned out! After cocktail hour, everyone headed down to the tent for dinner, dancing, and more festivities. A few hours later, the bride and groom were sent off under bubbles, and that was that!
Sunday was also my husband’s birthday, so if you see him, be sure and tell him! His birthday weekend always seems to be so busy, so this weekend I’m hoping to really make it up to him and do something fun!
Ok, here’s a quick iPhone photo dump of the weekend.
-4 of us bridesmaids Sat. morning at rehearsal
-With the beautiful bride
-In between the bridesmaid luncheon and the rehearsal dinner, we snuck over to my brother’s house to love on our nephew for a little bit. Look at that smile!
-With adam before the rehearsal dinner
-My wedding day hair, feeling fancy…ya’ll, those curls don’t happen often.
-Caught up with Adam right before the ceremony to grab a spare pair of dancing flats, which I never actually used, oops!
-Heading to bridal party photos
-Carousel at cocktail hour!
-So fun to finally have Adam with me at a wedding where I’m not busy shooting it!
-And finally, the gorgeous bride and my favorite girls on the planet!
Monday morning, before heading out of town, Adam and I made the rounds to say bye to my parents, see my grandparents, and sneak in lunch and cookies at two of my favorite places in downtown Franklin.
Today, it’s back to the grind. And back to the gym. My next workout is going to be a doozy after this long weekend off! Whew! Soaring Wings Half Marathon is basically tomorrow. Not really, but it’s only about 3 weeks away! I’ve got lots of miles to get caught up on this week!
How was your weekend? Have you ever been to a zoo wedding??
