Workout this Winter with Gigabody + Giveaway!

Hi all!

We’re officially in the home stretch of marathon training. In other words, oh thank heavens I’m almost done!!! Ya’ll know this round of marathon training hasn’t exactly been my favorite or my most focused effort ever, but I’m still excited to get this bad boy in the books! The Walt Disney World Marathon is in 27 days, and I couldn’t be more excited for our girls weekend!

Last week I took a very intentional and purposeful week off. If you keep up with my insta-posts, then you probably noticed that my workouts decreased pretty drastically. I noticed some personal things going on, and knew that my body was craving rest more than anything. So, I listened to my body and did what I knew would be best for me in the long run, and that was to REST. Heck, I even took a hot bath one night! Say what!!

This week though, it’s back to the grind, conservatively though. There seems to be a fine line between getting in enough intensity and milage, while still not over doing it again. So, we’ll see how this goes. Sunday night after I wrapped a mini-session, I headed to the gym for a few easy miles to ease back into things. I knocked out 3 miles, running at an 8:49 pace for each mile, and walking .1 between each mile. So I guess it ended up being a little over 3 in all. I came home and drank a big ‘ole cup of hot apple cider and laughed at my pale legs.


Tonight, I knew I needed to get a longer run in so I went back to the gym and did 7 miles. I did something similar, running each mile at an 8:49 pace, but walking .1 every other mile or so to recover and drink some water. We know that our strategy for the marathon is going to include some sort of interval work, so I’ve been trying to figure out what feels best. 7 miles felt fantastic, and it was nice to stretch my legs for a bit longer, and could definitely tell they’ve been at rest!

How is YOUR training going this winter? We haven’t had too too many gosh-awful cold days yet, so for the most part, I’ve been able to run outside when I have time. Waking up early on a Saturday morning to go run when it’s freezing outside is probably one of the most miserable things in the world. I’d rather run when it’s cold all day long, but when it’s so cold it hurts, it’s nice to have other options. I love doing my cross training inside at the gym, but sometimes I don’t even want to do that!

Enter: Gigabody.

There are videos for just about anything you can imagine, including yoga, kickbox, barre, and abs! And, they are good videos too, not those cheesy 80’s videos you can stream for free on Amazon!

So when you set up your account, you’ll be taken to this home screen, where you can easily browse by video type, instructors, or even plans – which actually look pretty intense! It’s a pretty sweet set up, and you have so many options to choose from, and most of the videos are about a half hour or so. A quick video at home when it’s too cold to go outside, is just about right!

My favorite category is definitely the yoga videos – especially since a membership to the yoga studio can be so expensive!

    I’ve heard about gigabody and really want to try it out! Its so hard to get out the door to workout classes in the winter. Good luck as you finish up your marathon training!

    I have heard about Gigibody and would like to give it a try! It would be good to have more easy fitness stuff like yoga I could do in my living room.

    This sounds perfect! I’m a stay at home mom to 4 kids, a gym membership isn’t even an option right now, but i’m incredibly sick of the DVD’s I currently own.

    The very beginning of this year (January and February) we were pummeled with snowstorms and while I love to run outside regardless of the white stuff I was training for a marathon and needed to do intervals and speedwork that just wasn’t safe to do on the slippery roads so I found myself doing one or two runs a week at the gym on the treadmill. It ended up being a blessing because I set a pretty big PR that April when I ran the marathon. I think those treadmill runs really helped.

    I’ve been very sleepy lately and letting myself get an extra few hours each night. I’ve also been taking a break from running to let my ankle sprain heal so it’s been an un-planned recovery week (s).
