After essentially taking a full week off from working out when we flew to TN, I was desperately CRAVING a good sweat sesh. as soon as we got back! And, I don’t know about you, but a cute new workout outfit makes getting back to it even easier! I picked up a new pair of shorts and a new tank at Target during our visit, and couldn’t wait to test them out during one of my garage workouts. I actually hadn’t tried either piece on beforehand, so thankfully both items fit and I’m actually quite obsessed!
So this Mesh Back Tank Top by C9 Champion gives me all the heart eyes. It’s the perfect mint green shade, and the fabric is to die for. It’s long in the back, scooped on the side, and the top half of the back panel is mostly a breathable mesh fabric, compared to the front which is more of a super soft polyester/rayon. It’s flowy, not clingy, and moisture-wicking. Love. Love. Love.
You want to talk about heart eyes? How about these black scallop edge workout shorts?! OBSESSED. They’re light as a feather, again have that kind of curved hemline to make them more flattering, and have an inner liner. They’re the Joy Lab brand at Target and I cannot for the life of me find a link to them on their website! Either they’re still so new that they aren’t on the website yet, or they’re like a temporary stock thing, or I’m crazy. But either way, I found them in-store at Target and couldn’t love them more!
For my “getting back in the groove of things” workout, I started out with a short 15 minute walk down the street with Barrett to get warmed up. When we got back, I kept him in the stroller, and occupied him with snacks, toys, and the occasional splash of water from my water bottle to keep him cooled off.
I wanted to focus primarily on arms, because I’ve noticed my knees have been bothering me a little recently. (#thisis30) Since tank top season is upon us, I want to try and tone my arms back up and feel confident in sleeveless dresses and tops again. To tackle this, I did an array of arm exercises with dumbbells, kettlebells, some elevated pushups on my bench, and finished up with some ab work. (I actually snuck in a few sets of bench step-ups, jump overs, and lateral step-downs, just to really get my heart rate back up and get those endorphins flowing! But shh, don’t tell my knees!) I’m still loving my little garage home gym so much, and I swear the best ~$100 I ever spent on Amazon was buying my staple pieces for it!
And then I took this super flattering sweaty picture:
I’m currently sitting right at the weight I was when we got pregnant with Barrett. And I’m okay with that. In fact, I’m thrilled. But, I would really like to tone up more and drop 3-5 pounds before our big beach trip in August. If the actual # doesn’t happen, that’s less of a concern, of course. Most importantly, I want to continue focusing on feeling stronger, improving muscle tone, and gaining more endurance for running. I’d really been enjoying my 5K runs, but now that the weather has officially reached HOT, it’s going to be more and more imperative to get out first thing in the morning, or head out after bedtime. One week at a time, though! Adam did comment that he thought I “looked strong” the other day, so that’s all the motivation a girl needs to continue hitting it hard and focusing on that self-care by way of exercise!
Have you purchased any new workout clothes lately? I’ve got some new Zyia items on my wish list, and Target has been killin’ it lately!
