Happy Groundhog’s Day! According to Phil we’re in for 6 more weeks of winter. Which, if the next 6 weeks are anything like the past 6 weeks it’s not going to be very exciting! I’m thinking it may as well be spring with how these temperatures are going.
I’m popping in today to share this week’s workouts thus far. It felt SO good to be back at my own gym after using the hotel gym last week. Using a new gym always feels so weird and awkward – like it’s the first day of school and you don’t know any of your classmates.
Tuesday night I was craving some serious cardio and felt like my body was telling me to burn some calories. (I ate WAY too much junk food over the weekend…oops!) I hopped on the bike and stuck it out for 11 miles of various intensities and speeds. When I got done my legs had that wonderful jelly-leg feeling and I was high on endorphins. Love workouts that make you feel like super woman when you get done!
Wednesday night I intended to just do weights but I was feeling extra emotional and that always translates into the need for a good run. I knocked out 3 sweaty miles on the treadmill doing intervals, increasing in speed each interval. I started out at a 9:30 pace and worked my way up to 8:13 pace, which is basically a sprint for these short legs!
After my run, I decided to suck it up and do some free weights over by the big mirror like a big girl. Usually I grab my weights and head over to where the turf and mats are and do all my exercises there, but I was feeling brave when my jam came on. WHO CARES if there are dudes everywhere. Like really, who cares?? I hate feeling like the girls are all banished to another part of the gym!
I did my usual circuit of arms and lunges – bicep curls, overhead tricep dips, standing chest rows, one arm shoulder press, lawn mower dumbbell rows, standing overhead press, lat raises, forward lat raises, and standing weighted lunges. I used 10 lb dumbbells and 15 lb dumbbells.
It’s amazing how your playlist can motivate you during a workout. Recently Spotify showed me my top songs from 2016 and a large amount of them were songs I loyally listen to every workout, so I’m not surprised at all that they ended up on my top list from the year. Anyone else have songs they feel like they NEED while at the gym? I thought I’d share mine today! It’s a SUPER random mix of songs that may or may not be your fancy. I like a mix of chill and more upbeat songs when I workout, so it’s pretty eclectic! I’m always adding new songs to my workout playlist, and have several different workout playlists depending on what mood I’m in. This one though has a few from each playlist. Enjoy!
I’ll be back tomorrow to share a super fun giveaway! Mommas, get excited!
