This weekend was spent with my husband’s side of the family up in Branson, MO, and to say we had a blast would be an understatement. We packed 19 people, including 5 kiddos age 5 and under, into a beautiful cabin, and laughed too much, ate too much, and slept too little. A pretty successful family weekend it was! Our nieces and nephews are the best kids in the world, and I wish we could cuddle and play every weekend!
Adam and I arrived at the cabin late Friday night, and after catching up on hugs, we headed to bed. Saturday morning we all woke up, ate a hearty breakfast, then headed down to Silver Dollar City for a full day of amusement park fun. Spending the day riding roller coasters, eating things I probably shouldn’t, and keeping up with our nieces and nephews was much needed. Here are just a few iPhone snippets from the day:
Sunday morning we slept in, a few groups took walks, and others just hung around the cabin. I headed out for a long walk to enjoy the cool air and ended up walking for 45 minutes. Sneaking in a long walk always helps me feel refreshed and ready to take on the day if I’m already feeling tired. Walking to a view like this doesn’t hurt either!
Once everyone was together again, we held a family church service out on the back deck. Worshipping with your family is a sweet, sweet time, and watching the kids sing, and dance, and really participate was too precious. Not gonna lie, the Ingle family does a mean “hip hip hooray hippopotamus” song. Sing it once, and it will be stuck in your head for days! One of my nieces also sang a too cute rendition of Happy Birthday when asked what she wanted to sing. I’m sure God really enjoyed that one 🙂
SUP’ing and Kayaking on Table Rock Lake
Sunday afternoon, Adam and I, along with Adam’s cousins, siblings and their spouses, all headed out to Table Rock Lake to SUP and kayak! Table Rock Lake is a HUGE and BEAUTIFUL lake in southern Missouri surrounded by the Ozark Mountains. I would highly recommend you visit it sometime! We rented 4 stand up paddle boards and 4 kayaks, and took them out for two hours. If you’ve never tried SUP’ing, it’s a MUST! Getting your balance at first can be a little tricky, but once you feel comfortable, it’s so much fun! And of course kayaking is always a blast, so having access to both was a nice way for all of us to switch things up and do what we felt most comfortable with. Who knows how many calories we all burned – we paddled far! I used the same iPhone waterproof case I used when we went canoeing over the summer, so some of these photos turned out a little cloudy. But, we documented the fun and my phone stayed dry!
Love this picture of Adam. He could skip rocks all day long. At heart, all men are little boys.
Sunday late afternoon I took my husband’s cousin’s senior photos out at a little park in Branson. Don’t worry, as soon as I get those posted I’ll share them with you! Sunday night was spent taking it easy at the cabin, and playing out by the pool. The kiddos got in one last summer swim, and we enjoyed the first fall fire. I was super impressed with the pool at our neighborhood of cabins and it even had a game of Corn Hole, a big, brand new playground, and a hot tub!
Monday morning we headed back down to Little Rock, and Adam and I took a detour through Northwest Arkansas for a little exploring. We walked around downtown Rogers, then drove down to Fayetteville to check out Lake Fayetteville and grab dinner.
How pretty is this drive?? Arkansas gets a bad rap, but I promise NWA is gorgeous!
How was your weekend? What is your favorite thing about weekend with family? When was the last time you stayed in a cabin?
