Happy Friday! Popping in today to share some things on my mind, and spare you from another post full of baby photos! I also wanted to share a few photos of our simple fall decor I somehow found the energy to put out! Nothing too fancy, just enough to add a few pops of orange and warmth.
The past few days have been full of ups and downs. Having a newborn and a (very!) strong willed toddler is not for the faint of heart, and truth be told, it’s been kind of kicking my butt lately. A and B are the absolutely sweetest, but they both have their moments where I wonder if I can handle the rest of the day, or night! There’s just something about age 3, which is looming in our very near future, that is psyching me out. I can’t believe she’ll be 3 so soon, and I also can’t believe the behavior that has come with it! Bedtime is sometimes a disaster, just to be blunt, but I think we’re all trying to be patient with each other and work through this tough age one day at a time. B, on the other hand, is a little over 7 weeks so he’s really starting to come into his own and I’d say he’s officially woken up from that sleepy newborn fog. He no longer just eats and sleeps, and instead sometimes it feels like he eats, cries, and maybe sleeps. I feel like we’re still trying to figure out who he is, what he likes, and what all of his noises mean. He seems to be a little needier than A was, and has to constantly be moving, so I’m trying not to let it overwhelm me. He also freaks out if his diaper is wet for .2 seconds, so that’s been fun. Basically, he’s lucky he’s so stinkin’ cute!
I also recently did some fall shopping for A. Can we just talk for a minute about how expensive kids are? They grow so stinkin’ fast, and it feels like they need all new wardrobes every single season! GAH! Especially first children who don’t get hand-me-downs. I love shopping for my girl and picking out fun new things for her as she grows, but my goodness it adds up! A few of my favorite finds for her include new boots, fall play dresses, and fun leggings!
This weekend my parents are FINALLY getting to meet and spend time with baby Barrett. My mom broke her ankle in mid-July, so she’s been banned from traveling ever since. But, this weekend she finally got the clear to fly and her ankle is starting to heal! It’s been tough having a newborn and not having my parents around to meet him for so long, so I’m excited to spend the weekend with them and let them love on their newest grandson. Grandson #3 to be exact!
I was cleared by my doctor to resume my regular activity level last week! Praise! But, I’m not quite ready to hit the pavement running races anytime soon and will definitely be starting slow. I have felt so much better and stronger in these early postpartum weeks though, as compared to postpartum with A, and I’m super thankful for that. I’m trying to start by squeezing in a long, brisk walk at least once a day (until I go back to work) and I’d love to get back to the gym to do some bike rides and strength training sooner rather than later. I really want to get back into really, really good shape over the next few months, and I think knowing that I’m not planning on being pregnant again anytime soon, I’ll be more motivated to put the work in. We’ve also been daydreaming about taking a trip just the two of us not next summer, but the next one, to celebrate our 8th anniversary and you better believe I’ll be hot mom status by then!
This Is Us + Outdaughtered + Sweet Home Sextuplets
SPOILER ALERT! –> Who else watched the season premier of This Is Us? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!! Like why was Toby in bed alone at the end??? Where was Kate??? Are Randall and Tess going to see their mom? Or Kate? Or is Toby in rehab for depression? Who knows! And also, all the heart eyes for the show bringing light to miscarriage, PCOS, and infertility. I don’t personally have any experiences with PCOS or infertility, but I know many friends who do, and it seems to be such a taboo topic. I’m glad it’s getting a little attention! Ok so Outdaughtered on TLC. The Busby family is my favorite reality TV family right now and I’m obsessed with their little quints! I can relate SO MUCH to Danielle and Adam as they parent those little girls because they’re so close in age to A. It cracks me up constantly, and I wish I could be their friends in real life! My newest reality TV obsession though is Sweet Home Sextuplets! They are the cutest southern couple and her southern accent just kills me, I love it so much. I can’t wait to add their episodes to my binge watching list. Ha!
What are you feeling on this Friday? Have you decorated for fall? Do you watch any of those shows?
PS Truckee’s 6th birthday is on Saturday! My first baby!
