Weekend Vibes, Puffy Vests, and Crayons

This weekend was just what I needed after being gone all week. Last week was my first big trip away from Adeline, and needless to say, everyone in our household was excited (and ready!) for me to be home. It ended up being a great work trip, and I truly enjoyed having lots of “adult” time and being totally off mom-duty. When I got back Thursday night, Adam met me at the airport with Adeline down at baggage claim. As soon as she saw me he set her down, and she ran over to me and we embraced in a tearful bear hug just like the movies. Kind of. It was sweet, and I won’t say who cried more.

I kept her home with me on Friday and we spent the day cuddling as much as possible in between a slow-ish day of catching up on emails. Ok, there wasn’t much cuddling, but there was a lot of Sesame Street watching, fussing, and making a huge mess. Not much changed in the four days I was gone! We went outside to play for a bit after lunch and I just about died of cuteness overload when I put her in her puffy vest I’d been waiting for her to wear. She’s just the cutest freaking thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Am I going to give her a complex by telling her this every single day?!

Seriously adorable. She gets more and more fun every day and I am LOVVVVVIIINNNGGGG this stage! She’s hilarious, like, so hilarious. Pretty much a hot mess express 24/7.  I want this age to last forever. You know, it’s so weird to me still that I MADE THAT! Like, she used to be the size of a pea. WHAT!!! Just crazy.

Saturday was spent doing things around the house, watching Cinderella over and over, and riding Truckee like a horse. Important things.

We also took a walk, even though it was freezing. But when you need some fresh air, you just bundle up and make it happen!

We took a shower with the whole fam because mom can literally never have privacy ever again. Seriously. While Adam was off running some errands, I corralled these goobs into the bathroom so I could actually shower for two seconds. It’s basically a circus. I’ve found the trick is to prop my phone up on the counter with Elmo playing, give Adeline her snack catcher of cheerios, and lock Truckee in there with us for added entertainment.

And, last but not least on Saturday, we introduced Adeline to crayons for the first time!! Be still my heart. She mostly just wanted to hoard them all and try to eat them, but she did make a few lines in her coloring book! I’m going to order her some bigger toddler crayons sometime this week, and maybe we’ll do some fun Valentine’s crafts!

Sunday, we went to church, then came home and colored, cleaned, napped, then headed back out for small group. Typical Sunday around here. (Remember that amazing vacuum I raved about? Adam surprised me and bought it while I was gone!)

Sunday night, Adeline got her first goose egg on her forehead. Bless her heart. She took a head first tumble off her anywhere chair cushion and cut her head on the floor. It bruised pretty good, but she’s totally fine! This age ya’ll, you can’t take your eyes off of them for a SPLIT SECOND!

My 14 month old son just discovered crayons yesterday, he did the same thing tried to eat them and take as many as possible! Good idea on ordering some of the fatter ones, I’m going to try that as well! How many months is Adeline, is she the same age? They are so fun right now!! And she is just too cute!

Split second and crazy things happen! Hope she’s ok. I hear ya on the fussiness and how much I love this stage! If those darn teeth would break through our house would be a little bit happier, ha. Annabelle LOVES crayons. She’s had them in the bathtub for a while, and now has the larger fatter ones too for drawing. I wish I could say it all ends up on the paper, ha! Why is coloring on furniture better than paper?! i’m so glad your trip went well but that you’re home now with the fam!

Right?! Adeline has 7 teeth total that are working their way in – 4 molars are basically all the way in and then 3 teeth up top are popping through and I know her little gums are so tender right now! It’s so sad! I’ve seen those bath crayons on amazon, I need to order them!! I bet they’re so much fun! And yes, so glad to be home!!

Hahaha it’s a struggle for sure!! Lots of distraction! Also our master bathroom is pretty tiny so there’s not much space for her to destroy 😉
