Oh hey Monday, you showed up quicker than usual! And happy May! Where did April go?!
This weekend was deemed our weekend of relaxation and staying at home, while we hibernated from the heavy rain. Except it didn’t actually rain until Saturday night, so as much as we tried to slow down, Adeline certainly did not. I’m really not sure she slowed down all weekend – this girl, ya’ll, she is ALL of 18 months, going on 18 years. I love her silly personality and her non-stop go go go wannabe independence, but whew! I tried my best to stay off the computer all weekend, and I didn’t pick up my big camera a single time, so I’d call that a somewhat successful unplugged weekend.
On Friday, I had a pretty big to-do list for work and needed to knock some things out so I dropped Adeline off at school for a half day and spent the morning camped out at Starbucks. When I picked her up she was super excited to see me (she doesn’t usually go to school on Fridays) so we came home, ran around a little bit, then she went down for an almost 3 hour nap.
Friday night, we headed out for our usual pizza night and then made the world’s biggest mess at our table. It was almost stress inducing how messy it was, plus her shirt was soaking wet from playing in her water. It was a hot mess express at our table, basically. And, Adeline has recently discovered she’s obsessed with condiments. Ketchup, Zaxby’s sauce, honey mustard, ranch, etc. She LOVES dipping whatever she’s eating into whatever sauce happens to be available, especially if she sees us doing it. Anyways, at the pizza place, Adeline insisted on dipping her grilled cheese into giant amounts of ranch, and basically dipped her whole face into it before we took it away and she freeeaaakkkeeeddd out. So, from then on we took turns walking around outside with her while the other one finished eating. #toddlerlife
Saturday morning, I took Adeline out for a long sunny walk before the rain rolled in. It was super windy and humid, but we walked for about 30 minutes before it was time to head back in for nap time. If there’s one thing I love about windy days, it’s seeing Adeline’s messy hair blow around. That Children’s Claritin bottle she’s holding? Yea she ran about 10 laps up and down our walkway before she finally let me take it away from her.
While she napped (another 3 hour nap!) I ran to Target to pick up some pouches on sale via the Cartwheel app, and a few other knick knacks. I love going to Target WITH Adeline, but I LOVE going to Target by myself – I’m such a mom!
Saturday night, we headed to an early dinner at our favorite taco place. Adeline looks like such a freaking big girl I can’t even handle it. She always wants to sit in the booth with us instead of in her high chair. She ate way too much queso with her dinner, but it’s only because we’re cool parents, ok?
On our way out, Adeline insisted on climbing up onto this bench so she could stand by me. She wants to do everything Mommy does, and I’m 100% okay with it.
She would NOT let us grab her to go to the car though. She had a death grip on that wall!
Saturday night it stormed like crazy here, so I stayed up late watching the weather. Anyone else love watching the weather forecast? I always tell Adam that in a previous life I was totally a meteorologist.
Sunday morning, we headed to church and I worked in the nursery. It’s so fun seeing Adeline play with all the other kids, and she’s getting so much better about seeing me hold other babies! After church, we hit up Chipotle, then home for naps. Adeline passed out about 5 minutes from home, (GAH!) but miraculously stayed asleep all the way inside, then slept on me for a little while in the glider before I laid her down in her crib. Those cuddles don’t happen often!
Sunday afternoon, I went to a baby shower, then we spent the night chasing Adeline around the house because THE CHILD DOES NOT SLOW DOWN! She’s so much fun though, and I wish I could record everything she does because she’s hilarious. I was talking to a friend at the shower today, and found myself asking, “how could I possibly love another baby as much as I love her??” She will totally always be my favorite. JK, I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
And that’s a wrap! Where’s my nap?
What did you do this weekend? Did you slow down, aka not slow down?
