Hi friends! Sorry for falling out of the blogosphere for a few days, but I’ve been busy with this little thing called “life.” This post is going to be a bit of a catch-up game, and a photo dump, so bare with me!
If you’ve been following along, you’ll remember that today was my first day at my new job! It was fabulous, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it! Thank you again to everyone who has sent encouraging messages, and those of you who have shared that previous post! I’m so glad it inspired some of you, meant something to some of you, and maybe made some of you think about your own happiness
Just to tide you over, here’s a look at my office, undecorated and pre-furniture rearranging of course!
Also, because now I’m going to be the ultimate SEO nerd, I will say that this post is going to do absolutely nothing for my blog’s SEO, and I’m quite alright with that, but just for today
Ok, let’s start with last Thursday. Since it was the night before my last day of work at my (now) old job, Adam and I took it upon ourselves to celebrate! We ate dinner at Chuy’s, then grabbed cupcakes for dessert, before walking it all off at Target. A perfect date night if you ask me! We think it’s so important to remember to “date” each other even after you’ve gotten married, and all too often we forget to take a night like this for ourselves and spend time acting giddy around each other.
Aren’t those cupcakes exactly what you want to see on a “healthy living blog?” Yes. Yes I think so.
Friday was my last day, and it was near impossible to stay focused and get my work done! I had already mentally checked out earlier that week, so by Friday I knew it would be a struggle to even make it to my exit interview. God is so good, and knew that Friday was literally the last day I could take. Any longer and I would have gone insane! And side note, I can see my old building from my new building…of.course.I.can.
Friday night a few girls came over and we constructed a diaper cake for a friend’s baby shower. I had never seen the process of “making” a diaper cake, so it was all new to me. However, it turned out WAY cute, and I also can’t wait to share a picture of it! Won’t be for a while though, it still has to be a surpriseIf you’re now wondering what a diaper cake IS, behold…
Correction: That is NOT the diaper cake we made. That is a diaper cake compliments of Google.
Saturday morning I woke up early and headed to the lake for my long run. 8 miles was on the ticket, and 8 miles it was. I started at 7 am, and by the time I finished I was ready to lay in bed the rest of the day. The heat is still killer here, and the humidity is not a force to reckon with! Running in Arkansas is still an art I am slowly but surely learning! I didn’t push the time very much, and knew it would be pointless in the heat anyways. So, I took it nice and easy, and tried to stay hydrated as much as possible. But, silly me forget to take my Clif Shot Bloks with me so by mile 6 my body was screaming for electrolytes and when I got home after my run I felt TERRIBLE! Lesson learned: you MUST consume some sort of nutrition if you’re running for longer than an hour! I was so mad at myself for forgetting such an easy thing, and I paid for it with an exhausted body and mind afterwards! I don’t even remember the ride home, and just crashed when I walked in the door. Luckily we had plenty of salty chips to munch on and I felt better in no time.
Positive point: my arms and legs soaked up some late summer rays, AND I burned almost 800 calories, meaning I ate like a pig the rest of the day! Whoop whoop! That IS why you run…right?
I rocked my Swiftwick Aspire Twelve compression socks, and thank goodness I did or else I would have battled a constant cramp! These are my favorite compression socks of all, and you should check them out!
Saturday afternoon, we headed up to our college town for a friend’s baby shower! Don’t even get me started on how weird THAT is, but it was a blast seeing the expecting couple and some old friends from college, and getting to join in their excitement as they opened sweet gifts for their baby girl! Such precious times.
I lived with this chica our junior year, and it was probably one of my favorite semesters of college!
Sunday was pretty usual: church, lunch with friends, running errands, small group, home. Done and done.
In between all of that we wondered why Truckee turned out so weird. She is a mess, and is constantly making us laugh. If you follow me on Instagram, you know what’s up.
There once was a time where her fat butt could curl up completely under that chair. She still can, but most of her sticks out still. I don’t know that she’s noticed though.
And can we talk about her height for a second? When did that happen? Tonight she jumped up on me and hugged me like a human, and last night her nose was sniffing everything on the counter.
So, if you made it this far, you are now caught up. And if you just clapped your hands and sang that to the tune of Usher’s “Caught Up” you deserve a high five!
On the rest of this week docket:
-I’ll tell you all about the new job!
-Meal planning for a less than domesticated wife, like myself.
-More marathon training!
And because you know I can’t write a blog post without including something to make you laugh, you should probably check out this beyond ridiculous music video my brother stumbled upon. It’s pure genius.
How was your weekend? What are your thoughts on your first day of a new job? Anxious? Nervous?
