Hi sweet readers! How was your weekend? Mine was jam-packed with exercise, a date night, and productivity, so let’s break it down, shall we? This is going to be iPhone photo overload, so get ready.
Saturday morning started off with a power yoga class. I almost didn’t go, but I’m so glad I did because it was a GREAT workout! It was much faster paced than my previous classes, so by the end of it I was definitely sweating bullets. We did a lot of warrior holds, chair poses, and trees, so my thighs had their fair share of hard work, that’s for sure!
I wore one of my new pairs of capris from Old Navy and am officially obsessed with them. LOVE the pattern on them. Ignore the booty shot, just proof that they are flattering even though they were super cheap. Hokay? AND they have a pocket back there, perfect for your key or credit card!
On my way home, I stopped by the lake to meet up with Adam because he had just bought a KAYAK! He’s been saving up for this on his own for a long time, and I’m glad he finally just went ahead and bit the bullet. I know he’s excited to get out on the water more and catch some fishies! Not mention, paddling with be a FUN workout for him, as opposed to something he dreads. Enjoyment is key, people!
Of course, we played around with some yoga as well! Adam helped me work on crow-to-tripod, such a fun one.
Saturday morning I was also able to run some errands and spend some time shopping for some home decor I’d been putting off. Side note- if you don’t already use the ‘envelope system’ for your cash management, I highly recommend it! Being able to pay cash for things that you’ve technically already saved for, is a GREAT feeling! Our ‘House’ envelope makes shopping for little things like this more fun and keeps me from feeling guilty! End side note. I am finally going to be home these next 6 weekends, and I am ecstatic at the thought of not traveling for a while! So since I’m going to be home for a while, it’s operation “do-house-projects-you’ve-been-neglecting.” Including a yard sale. Can’t. Wait. Anyways, while I was out I picked up some things to update my guest bathroom, guest room, and our master bedroom. Nothing major, just a few small changes that made a world of difference.
Up first, I bought a new shower curtain and rug/accent towels for the guest bath. Not that I hated what I had, but was just tired of it.
Still need to decide what to replace the Tahoe photo with, because I’m planning on moving that back to our bedroom. Maybe a cute Etsy print.
Since I’m avoiding painting the walls, I went with something more neutral and something that had more of the wall color in it. Thankfully, Adam didn’t die when he saw the pink.
Next up, the guest room.
Our guest room is what I like to call, “the grandmother room.” Most of the “decor” are things from both of my grandmothers, so there isn’t much matching going on. But, aren’t all guest rooms eclectic anyways? I’d been needing to organize my desk, and store all of my camera gear and photography paperwork in a more organized fashion. I also decided I was sick of my orange curtains, so into the garage sale pile they went, and out came $5 white sheers from Target. Easy peasy.
Before and after desk nook-
All of my camera gear, paperwork, files, equipment, and extras are now safely and cleanly stored on the bottom two shelves of my bookshelf. You can’t see in the left picture, but usually all my gear bags are strewn across the ground in front of the window, so this is quite the improvement! One day I will have a much bigger and deserved space to dedicate my photography business essentials to, but for now, they only get a small space in the guest room.
And we finally bought a bed frame. COME STAY WITH US!
Last up, I tackled the boring, empty wall above our bed. I’ve ignored this space for two years and finally decided to whip up a collage and make it feel more cozy! I’ve got a couple Katie Daisy prints in mind to order, and still need to print out some photos, but here it is right after I finished it!
A few of the frames I already had, and then i bought most of them at Hobby Lobby for 50% off plus a 40% off coupon on a few items. I think I’m going to go with the exploring theme, since so much of me and Adam’s lifestyle is playing outside and seeing new places. Here are a few of the prints I’m currently loving…
Can’t wait for it to all come together, and to finally get some curtains hung in there as well.
Saturday night we had a nice date night, and it was fun to treat ourselves to a fancy meal and some genuine quality time together. I don’t think I’ve straightened my hair in three weeks, so I was quite proud of myself. We went to Loca Luna in Little Rock, and Adam had grouper, and I had the biggest cheeseburger you’ve ever seen. And two appetizers. I’m crazy, okay?!
Sunday we went to lunch with some friends after church, then that afternoon I went on my first trail run!!
I’ve always wanted to try a trail run, but always found an excuse to run on the road instead. My friend Erin invited me and I was so glad the timing finally worked out! Oh. My. Goodness. It was SO much fun!! We did a 5 mile loop, and I felt like a little kid again frolicking through the woods!! I’m already excited to go again. The trail was beautiful, and the views were gorgeous. I was in heaven.
Trail running is definitely WAY different than road running. Wow. Different is an understatement. I didn’t look at my watch a single time, in fact, I only looked up a couple times briefly for fear that I would twist my ankle on a rock. It just felt so much more relaxed than running on the road, but altogether a better workout. I felt muscles working while I ran than I’ve never felt while running, and everything from my core to my coordination and balance got a workout. It was fantastic! The calorie count on my Garmin has got to be off by at least 200 calories because I know we burned some MAD calories!
That about wraps it up. See how productive I can be when I’m not traveling?!
What did you do this weekend? Have you ever done a trail run? Have you redecorated recently? What is your favorite way to get outside on the weekends?
