Weekend Recap: The One With The White Fireplace and Family Fitness

Hi friends! Back to the Monday grind! Anyone else had a slightly Manic-Monday like I have? Today we started swim lessons with our big girl, so it was a bit hectic getting out the door, then back home, then back to preschool, and back to work, but we made it and now we’re cruising right along into Monday afternoon! How was your weekend? I feel like I really stepped away from my computer and phone most of the weekend and it felt really nice. I wanted to pop in real quick, do a quick little de-briefing, if you will, of the remainder of our weekend after the holiday! (Anyone else’s brain still feel like it’s on holiday time though?)

Saturday morning, Adam woke up bright and early to go meet a friend/running buddy to knock out 10 miles. As I mentioned in my last post, he’s running his first 25K this Saturday NIGHT, and we’re all really excited about it! He left the house around 5 AM, and of course, both kids woke up promptly at 6 AM, ready to party. I knew Adam wouldn’t be home for a while though so I quickly got the kids loaded up and out the door for a walk before the sun got too high, in jammies no less! (I’ve said it a million times before but finally owning a double stroller has been life changing!) I walked with the kids for 45 minutes before Adam returned home, and A had a blast running ahead of me, or beside me, while B snacked and cruised along. Once Adam got home, we celebrated his 10 miler with our usual family Waffle House breakfast. Families that stay fit together, eat waffles together, right?

After breakfast, we came home and Adam mowed the lawn while B napped, and I took Adeline out to Home Depot to pick up….WHITE PAINT! Yep, I finally decided to just be spontaneous and ballsy and GO.FOR.IT. No time like the present, right? The beige trim has always been the one thing I haven’t liked about our house, but could obviously live with. I always knew we could do it ourselves, but it’s a pretty big undertaking. Our house is around 2,600 sq ft total, so needless to say there’s a heck of a lot of beige and I’m honestly just so sick of looking at it! When we paid to have the house painted before we moved it, it was going to cost something like another $2000 to also have them paint the trim and doors, which was clearly a hard pass. But, this weekend, I finally took the first steps towards committing to painting our trim/doors/fireplace, and I’m already SO glad I did. I know it’s going to take an eternity to do the whole house, but my plan for now is to focus on the downstairs, and worry about the upstairs in the future. The previous homeowners had actually done the trim in the kitchen and dining room, so that helped. I’m hoping to at least completely do the downstairs, as well as the stairwell and top balcony. It’s going to be a long process, but a little here and a little there should do the trick. This weekend, I was able to do the fireplace, as well as the trim and windowsills in the living room, and part of the trim in the entryway.

Sunday, we did church then went over to my in-laws for a delicious big lunch and an afternoon of swimming. The kids swam and swam, and A passed out HARD once we got home. You know you didn’t pass out? B. Mr. No Nap. We were completely shocked, so I put him back in baby jail in the living room while I finished painting!

And that bring us to today! It felt good having a weekend that was super productive, and I can’t wait to share more of our white trim adventure as it all comes to fruition! I’ve really been enjoying all of these little home projects lately, and next up is getting our new light fixtures hung.

Oh, and did I ever share our new purple Crepe Myrtle in the backyard? I know I did on IG story, but here she is right after we planted her! She’s still doing well, save for a few dry leaves here and there. Hoping it’s just transplant shock!

Enjoy the start of your week! Have you done any home updates lately? Or painting?

We must be on the same wavelength, because we painted our living room and foyer over the holiday after the kids went to bed! Ha! It is no fun but at least you feel accomplished 🙂 Your fireplace looks so much better!! Good work. Also we have some of the same shirts from Target for my 15 mo son as you do for Barrett, love them! 🙂
