This weekend, just like every other weekend it seems, flew by in the blink of an eye and ended up being a whirlwind. But, in the best way possible. Do you ever just sit back and reflect on your current day-to-day life, and think, “I like this. Things are good.” That seems to be where we currently are.
Friday night, after my fourth (!!!!) workout for the week, and after work wrapped up, we headed out for our usual weekly bite of pizza. We hit up our favorite little spot, and followed up with a later than usual bedtime. I guess by now I shouldn’t say “than usual” because it seems that during these summer months, when the sun is still bright as day at 8 o’clock, it’s really not that much of a surprise anymore! Once the kids were in bed, we hunkered down for a few episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Coolcoolcoolcool. Oh, I forgot to mention – B got his first goose egg! Poor little guy.
So I’m really just so gosh darn proud of myself for getting in FOUR workouts these week. I don’t want to harp on it, but let’s harp on it for a sec. Investing in some simple gym equipment out in the garage has been the best money I’ve spent in years, for real. I never knew how valuable my time was until I had kids, and having the ability to do a workout at home, in-between work and naps and Blippi and cleaning and all the things, has been game changing. I still love treadmill runs the most, and miss having one accessible, but the fact that I’m already seeing results from my hard work at home has been incredibly motivating. I also recently learned about a NEW workout apparel line that I’m itching to order and try out. So get ready for a review soon!
Saturday morning, Adam headed out for a long run before returning home to pick us up and head to our Waffle House family date. I’m sure there are haters out there who think the ‘ole WaHo is disgusting, but I bet to differ and challenge you re-think your opinion after a pile of smothered-covered-chunked hashbrowns. Plus, it’s messy and loud, and CHEAP – perfect for families! Come on!
After breakfast, we headed home to do our cleaning and chores, before heading back out for Adeline’s gymnastics class. This has become a Saturday morning favorite, and I will be sad whenever we decide to end her membership.
Saturday afternoon, we quickly had relax time before Adeline and I left for a friend’s birthday party and Adam stayed home with Barrett. The party was so much fun, and I posted a bit about it on IG the other day. She had a BLAST and I loved seeing her be strong and brave!
Saturday night, we hung at home, made cookies, and put the kids to bed as early as we could! It was a busy, busy day and we were all exhausted I think! Thankfully, Barrett got the memo and actually slept from 7:45-5! PRAISE!
Sunday, we did church and lunch (Cinco de Mayo!) then came home for naps. Both kids actually passed out on the drive home, something that hasn’t happened in a LONG time, so we were a little worried they wouldn’t go back down for naps. Adeline ended up sleeping another 2 hours once we got home, and Barrett about an hour. Once they were up, I knocked out some yard work, and called it my workout for the day. I replaced one of my rose bushes, dug up a shrub from the front, and pulled a bunch of weeds. It felt good to do something physical outside in the sun after all the rain we’ve had but it also just highlighted many more yard projects we need to accomplish!
Sunday night, we ate leftovers, and got ready for Game of Thrones! Which brings me to…
Game of Thrones thoughts on Season 8 Episode 4: SPOILER ALERT
Anyone else feel like episode 4 was a bit lackluster? It felt like they crammed way too much into too short of an episode and didn’t do many of the storylines justice. There were so many things they didn’t show or expand on, and instead just alluded to through a scene change. I’m also a little angry with Jon at the moment, because he didn’t even take a second to pet or say goodbye to Ghost! WHAT GIVES, JON?! Your poor direwolf lost an ear for you, and all you gave him was a hint of a head-nod. Also a little annoyed they didn’t show Bran telling Sansa and Arya who Jon really is. We’ve been waiting for this moment for quite sometime, and instead we just had to assume he told them based on Sansa then spilling the beans just a few scenes later. I think Dany is destined to become ‘mad’ just like her father, and she’s on a path of destruction. I’m not getting the warm fuzzies for her own fate. But could there be more dragons? I feel like the teaser for next week alllllmost made a hint at it, but maybe I’m crazy. No matter what, I’d say we’re in for a BIG battle next week though. Cersei makes my skin crawl, and I’m so hoping she gets a brutal death. So many questions still, and so many things I’m hoping to see happen (a Hound V Mountain reunion?!), and things I’m hoping to NOT see happen! (AHH!). I don’t want to share too many spoilers, so if you’re into GOT, let’s chat! Can we all just breathe a collective sigh of relief though that Sam, Gilly, and Tormund seem to be good for now? Seems they got off with a gentle goodbye as they rode off to start living their best lives. Thank goodness.
Tell me something from your weekend. What brought you joy? Did you watch GOT? What are your thoughts?
