The past couple months have seemed extraordinarily dry around here so a week full of long, rainy days was more than welcome. Of course, I wasn’t expecting 4 days of downpours and basically monsoons but there’s something refreshing about rainy weather. We spent lots of time inside playing in Adeline’s tent, reading new books, working on potty training, coloring, and learning a few new tricks. But this weekend, the sun FINALLY came out and I couldn’t get enough! And, I actually felt good enough to enjoy it!
Friday night we kept things really exciting and took a family trip to Lowe’s to look at garage shelving. Turns out, Adeline has a strong affinity for refrigerators and other appliances so I think we’ve found her new favorite place! Who knew toddlers and home improvement stores went hand in hand! Ha!
Saturday morning, we stuck to our usual routine of cartoons and breakfast in bed. Adeline has been loving watching tv in Mommy and Daddy’s bed and I think she think it’s a really big deal. As soon as she wakes up on Saturdays and I go and get her out of her bed she asks for “mommy daddy bed” almost immediately and can’t wait to cuddle. This mama heart certainly doesn’t hate it!
Saturday before nap time, Adeline and I loaded up for a girls trip to Target, Adeline’s request. Seriously. The girls asked me to go to Target, and I just couldn’t say no! We stocked up on potty training prizes, and other random things we really didn’t need. I peaked through the maternity section, and was hugely disappointed. I feel like when I was pregnant the first time they had tons of cute maternity options but currently everything just looked frumpy and not cute. Anyone else notice this recently? Maybe this spring the choices will improve.
Once we got home, Adeline went down for a THREE hour nap while I organized and cleaned all the things. It’s amazing how much I can accomplish when my head isn’t in the toilet or I’m not nauseous on the couch! I organized one side of the garage, did two loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, picked up around the house, pulled out old baby stuff, and made myself lunch. Big wins, people!
Saturday night, we took Adeline to Adam’s parents so we could have an impromptu date night. We wanted to get out and look for some furniture for Adam’s office but didn’t want to have to worry about chasing Adeline around the stores. She’s typically a good shopper, but let’s be real, when she’s with both of us it’s more of a game of Adeline-plays-hide-and-seek-up-and-down-the-aisles than a shopping trip. Anyways, we’re in need of a new tv stand/storage unit and a bookshelf and so far haven’t found anything that quite hits the mark. We’ve checked home goods, and costco, (and already know Target’s quality will be too cheap) but if you have any recommendations, send them my way! When we picked Adeline up, she was oh so adorable and gave us huge hugs and told us all about her night. I miss her so much even when it’s just a few hours! Especially when she runs at me in her little nightgown and her sloppy wet curls. *heart patter*
Sunday was church day, followed by nap time which I also took full advantage of. I had high hopes that Adeline would take another three hour nap and thankfully she did so I napped for about half of it. GLORIOUS. While we both napped, Adam took Truckee out for some exercise, and when I got up I sat outside in the sun until Adeline woke up, then we headed out for a stroller walk. It was near 70 degrees and felt so, so good outside. We walked for about 30 minutes and I’m feeling optimistic that we’ll soon be walking every day. Fingers crossed! Goodbye morning sickness, ain’t nobody got time for that!
And here we are, back to another Monday. I’m actually heading out of town SOLO at the end of the week so I’ve got that to look forward to! More on my trip later.
How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting for unique? Did you luck out with nice weather?
