You guys, 5 days away is a LONG time! I realize that sounds like a cakewalk to most people, but last week marked only the second time I’ve gone out of town for an extended period of time since having Adeline! I flew to NC for 4 days back in January, and last week flew back to AR for another work trip. It was a great week, and not gonna lie, I actually enjoyed getting dressed and doing my hair and makeup everyday.
As hard as it is to leave your little ones, it’s literally the sweetest thing ever to come back home to them! Like, the. sweetest. thing. ever. It sucks being gone, and by the end of the week your heart is literally aching to see them again, but when you do it’s like you’re a celebrity in their eyes. When I landed in DFW on Friday, I expected Adam to come alone before grabbing lunch and picking up Adeline. But instead, I walked out of baggage claim and was greeted by Adeline bopping through the airport on her Daddy’s shoulders, with the biggest smile on her face. I couldn’t get my hands on her fast enough!! And confession: if there weren’t lots of people around, and if I wasn’t so hungry, I probably could have cried I was so happy to see her again! Cheesy mom moment for the win.
I have so many pictures I still need to share from my trip. But for now, let’s chat about this weekend! Since I was gone all week, we kept it plain and simple. Of course it was not without a few toddler tantrums, but what’s new. Welcome home!
Here’s a quick rundown of the weekend. One sentence per picture style.
Friday afternoon when I got home, I gave Adeline the pink kitty JellyCat I picked up for her on my trip and she absolutely loved it.
Saturday morning, after our family breakfast out, we headed to a new park to play.
I’m betting my retirement on Adeline being an Olympic gymnast, obviously on the uneven bars.
While at the park, we demonstrated the most dangerous way to go down the slide.
When we got home, we put on our hamburger house shoes.
And we colored with the crayons we stole from dinner the night before.
We also watched Moana for the billionth time, and in case you were wondering, we were voyagers!
On Sunday, Adeline took a 3.5 hour nap after church, then we went swimming at the in-laws to wrap up the weekend.
How was your weekend? Do you have a love/hate relationship with traveling away from your littles?
