I can’t believe it’s already Monday. I swear just yesterday we were loading up our cars for the final drive to Texas. Of course we’ve hit a few road blocks and won’t get to move into our new house until Wednesday or Thursday of this week, so I guess you could say it’s been a pretty fast and furious week. I’m more than ready to get settled into a routine, in our own home, but I’m trying to enjoy the journey and not wish away these moments with Adeline. For all she knows, we’re on a fun vacation to her grandparents’ house, AND, all of her cousins happen to also be in town this week, so girlfriend is living it up and practicing for the day when she too will be a big kid. I’ve found myself getting easily frustrated with her, and thinking, “she is SUCH a toddler!!!” but I’m trying hard to remember that yes, she is in fact, a toddler, and this season of life is going to pass as quickly as it arrived! Adeline may wear me out by the end of the day but I love every single piece of her more and more every day, even the pieces of her that scream and yell and stomp their feet in full toddler glory. (Anyone else’s toddler almost too heavy now to carry during a full blown tantrum? I’m about to the point where she kicks so hard I just have to let her lay on the ground and do her thing!) Tonight though before I laid her in her bed she wrapped her arms around my neck for a ‘super hug’ and it was like God saying, “Chill out mama, we got this, it’s all going to be ok and you’ll be in your new home soon. Don’t wish away the time!”
I honestly don’t have much to share update wise, other than a quick recap of what our past few days have been like. I’ve had a few people reach out and ask how things were going in Texas so far, so here’s your answer! If you want to see more of a day-to-day update though, be sure to follow along on Insta – @sweetmilesblog.
I was on vacation all this past week because we were supposed to, you know, actually move. I went ahead and stayed on vacation though because there’s been lots of loose ends to tie up and changes to be made. Adam was also on vacation for a few days, so we’ve had plenty of family time with Adeline. She starts her new school this week and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a nervous wreck. I don’t know why it’s so hard on us mamas when our babies go through a new transition but it really pulls at your heart! I am dreading dropping her off in the morning but I know she’s going to do great and will be running that place in no time. She’ll be off on Tuesday for the holiday too so it will be a short week anyways. Feel free to send happy thoughts and positive vibes our way. My big girl has been having a tough time with new people lately, but I’m hoping she will feel right at home in no time.
So what have we been doing with all our new found free time this week? Other than phone calls, and new contracts, and more phone calls, we’ve been spending just about all our time out by my in-law’s pool, shopping because #retailtherapy, learning new roads and getting lost more times than not, or taking cousins for rides in Adeline’s new wagon…which she’s obsessed with. Living the classy life over here, let me tell you!
I’ll share more details about our new house once we’re actually in it. I’d love to share ‘before’ photos, even if it’s a hot mess at first, just so you can see the changes but we’ll see if I remember to actually do that. I’m pretty freaking excited though – I can’t WAIT to finally be in it. It’s been a long time coming!
Happy almost 4th of July! We’ll be celebrating with fireworks tonight, then again tomorrow I’m sure, so bring it on sparklers!
What are your July 4th plans? How do you handle transitions?
