Happy Tuesday! Thank you for your sweet comments on our home tour, we are loving it so much!
So this weekend. Let’s talk about this weekend. I think we had every intention of staying low key and hiding out at home as much as possible, but somehow we ended up packing the weekend with family time, playtime, and a grumpy, sick toddler.
Friday afternoon kicked off with a fun girls outing to our favorite snocone stand to meet Travelocity’s Roaming Gnome! It was pretty much a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we jumped on it. Adeline and I met up with my college roommate and her littles for snocones and gnomes. I’m a pretty big stickler on giving Adeline sugar, but Adeline helped me devour our strawberry cone before giving the Roaming Gnome one last hug and heading home.
Friday night, Adam had to work late so Adeline and I stayed out extra late walking. We walked almost 2 miles, and when we got home we ordered a pizza and waited for Adam to get home. Adeline is now saying “pizzi” for pizza, and I kind of hope she always calls it pizzi!
Saturday morning, I really wanted to do something fun as a family so we headed off to a local park for a long walk and some playground time for A. Adam actually grew up running at this park and having soccer practice, so it was fun to hear him talk about how it has changed. The weather was absolutely perfect and we finally weren’t sweating off our body weight in the heat. While Adeline played, we got to chit chat with lots of other toddler parents and apparently we’re all on the same page – two year olds are a handful!
Saturday afternoon, Adeline took a….wait for it…3.5 HOUR NAP! 3.5 hours!!! Aaaaaaaamazing. After she woke up, I got to work in the kitchen cooking dinner for Adam’s family. We had everyone over to break in our new table, and we learned that it very comfortably seats 8 people which is basically life changing! We’ve had only a 4 person table all this time so it’s SO NICE to have a bigger table finally!
For dinner, the menu consisted of: Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas, Mexican Rice, and Refried Beans. And guess what suckers, I made it all myself! I’ve never made a full meal for 8 people, so I’d like to take this moment to pat myself on the back. I’m happy to report that they were freaking delicious and everyone raved about them. Put simply, I used corn tortillas, filled with a cheesy sour cream chicken mixture, complete with onions and green chiles, topped with enchilada sauce, and more cheese. Seriously, to die for. Adam’s sister supplied dessert, which was also to die for – a chocolate iced yellow cake. Is there anything better than a simple cake?!
After we ate, the kids played, and played, and played until it was time to put Adeline to bed so we could play a mean game of dominos while we drank our coffee. Adeline absolutely loves playing with her big cousins, and I think she thinks she’s just as big as they are. It’s amazing how much she’s grown up this summer and I think it’s because of how much she’s gotten to play with them. She’s really come out of her shell, (not that she ever had much of a shell!) but she just oozes confidence and it’s so fun to see!
Sunday, we went to church, then breakfast, before realizing she definitely had a fever. She ended up going to bed with a 101.1 fever, and Monday morning she woke up with a rash. I’m hoping she’s on the mend, but girlfriend is oh so fussy and I can just tell she doesn’t feel like herself. It might be a long week!
