It’s been a while since I’ve done a weekend recap, but after this weekend I was just feelin’ it. As you know, we’ve been loving lazy weekends at home, spent making plans as we go. For so many years I feel like we spent our weekends driving to either TN or TX so it’s been really nice to be off the road more. I used to think the only way for a weekend to be fun was for it to contain some epic adventure, or a trip, or activity after activity. But honestly, and maybe I’m just turning into a grandma over here, but I’m not kidding when I say I look forward to Saturday mornings spent cuddling in bed, watching movies together, cleaning the house, and cooking breakfast. The past few weeks, we haven’t even thought about leaving the house until lunch time, and it’s just been refreshing. And this weekend was no different, well, mostly.
Friday night, Adam headed out to the men’s conference at our church, so Adeline and I had ourselves a little pizza party. We popped a Digiorno’s frozen pizza (don’t judge me, we typically order fresh but I had picked one up earlier in the week knowing that I’d be on my own for a while!), played with our stickers, then painted a few valentine’s cards. She’s been loving sitting at the breakfast bar and playing with her watercolors lately and I have to say, girl’s got skills!
Saturday morning, Adam was back at the last half of the conference, so Adeline and I took full advantage of pure laziness. After she woke up, I put her in bed with me and we ate breakfast and watched movies until nearly 11 AM. Normally I’d feel like we should be productive and do laundry or something, but nope. We lounged, and didn’t hate it. We did eventually get up and make a Carter’s run though before nap time, for essential items, like socks. Making some really exciting purchases these days! Once Adam got home, he painted her toenails, before putting her down for a nap where she slept for a little over THREE hours! Which meant…you guessed it! Mommy also took a nap!
Saturday night, we went to dinner with family for my FIL’s birthday, then back to my in-law’s house for root beer floats and cousin play time. Adeline got treated to her very own mini float and she LOVED it! It was adorable and I wish I’d taken a picture but she was in heaven.
Sunday morning, we went to church and got to hear Bob Goff speak! I actually might do a post about it because I enjoyed it that much. If you’ve never heard of Bob Goff, he wrote Love Does, and has a new book coming out soon. He’s INCREDIBLE. It was so good. So. Good. His sermon centered around loving everyone, no matter what, and trying to be the person God created you to be, and not anyone else. Simple concept, right?
I snapped these pictures of Adeline before she took a nap and I just love them so much. She just exudes pure joy, and I’m so thankful!
After lunch, and naps, we walked down to the playground for a family play date. We met some new neighbor friends, and I heard Adeline introduce herself for the first time! Although, it sounded more like, “Hi I’m Aaaliiine” but it was very sweet and I’ve never heard her say that before! We soon realized we were all hungry, so we walked back home, then piled into Daddy’s truck for a quick Panera run. Adeline loves eating at Panera for some reason, so since she’s typically well behaved there we don’t mind sitting down for a bit! Once we got home, we knocked out bed time before crashing to catch up on The Goldbergs.
And just like that, another simple and unplanned weekend came to a close. It’s been in the 60’s here the past few days so I’m itching for Spring but trying not to get my hopes up! I’m sure we’ll have a few more winter spells before it’s mild weather for good!
How was your weekend? Should I do more weekend recaps? Have you heard of Bob Goff? Would you want to hear more from his lesson?
