Happy Thanksgiving week! I’m so excited it’s officially the holiday season and I can’t wait to soak up every moment from now until the new year. We’ll be spending our Thanksgiving with family later this week and I’m ready to eat, play, and shop!
So this weekend was one spent at home, which was really nice. We kicked it off on Friday morning with a Thanksgiving Feast with Adeline at her school. She was SO excited when she saw us walk in and she loved eating lunch with Mommy and Daddy and showing us all her friends and latest crafts. She ate all her turkey and three big helpings of green beans, which surprised us all!
I’ve been taking Nature’s Bounty Biotin lately to try and thicken up my hair after I felt like it was literally falling out, and I think it’s actually been helping! The past few times I’ve straightened my hair I felt like it was thicker and healthier!
Friday night we headed out for our usual pizza night, where we were once again reminded that we should just never eat out with a toddler. She can sit still for a few minutes, and once she has food in front of her she’s usually fine, but if it takes a while to get our food then she is up and down and up and down and up and down. We pretty much spend our entire meal taking turns walking with her outside. Toddler life at its finest. Oh, and she’s not obsessed with her toy camera, that I got her like a year ago. Yay for recycled toys!
Saturday was a marathon day, and I didn’t take a single picture. I shot a family mini session in the morning, then we all went out to breakfast afterwards. On the way home, we ran into Target, before finally heading home just in time to turn around and head BACK out for a birthday party up at our church. After the party, we came home and Adeline crashed hard and slept until almost 5 o’clock. When she got up, we decided to just stay home for the night and recuperate from the extra long day.
Sunday morning, we headed to church and Adeline wore the cutest little shirt I snagged from Target’s Cat and Jack line. The sermon series at our church the past few months has been nicknamed, ‘The Courage Campaign’ and Sunday was the last part of the series. The series has centered around the book of Joshua, as our church is gearing up to raise money for a pretty major expansion across three campuses. So, when I saw it I knew she just had to wear it! It’s been a really great series, and has opened our eyes to understanding what it truly means to be courageous in the face of God.
After church, we went to breakfast with my SIL and her kiddos then walked around our favorite outdoor shopping center for a little while. Adeline loved seeing the big Christmas tree, and I can’t wait to take her back one night after dark. We also stopped in Fossil to pick up one of my Christmas presents! I found this bag two weeks ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Usually when I find a bag I like, I carry it until it falls apart, and my current bag was looking pretty sad. It also wasn’t a cross-body so I was constantly annoyed with it. This is the Maya Large Hobo from Fossil, and is sheer perfection. It’s big enough to carry my work laptop, and function as a diaper bag, and it’s got the shoulder option AND the cross-body option. It’s also got a nice exterior pocket so you can separate your keys and phone. I’m obsessed! If you need a new wallet for it, I’ve had one of their Large Zip Clutches for a couple years and always get compliments on it. They don’t make my color anymore, but the black and white dot is SUPER cute!
Sunday night, after nap time, we headed out to the brand new Tanger Outlet Mall that just opened up about 10 minutes from us. We were both craving a walk and thought the chilly air would perk us up. The outlet mall was super nice, and I’m pretty pumped to have an H&M so close! Adeline of course loved the Christmas decorations, and I’m sure we’ll back many, many more times when we need to blow off some energy!
A New Direction
As you’ve probably noticed, there have been some slight changes on this little blog of mine! I’ve officially added Adam as a contributor, and I can’t wait to have him start posting on occasion. The more and more I thought about it, the more it made sense for us to have a space for him to share his side of things. This blog has been 100% about me for over 4 years now, but now that we’re both parenting Adeline, I really wanted to be able to provide another perspective. We’re looking forward to providing some new content that’s a little more dad-focused, and hope to bring a positive outlook to fatherhood.
It seems like most parenting related blogs are solely focused on the mom, and her struggles, but I feel like that lessens the importance of the dad’s role. We’re in this together, and even though we may experience things differently, he’s still the other half of this equation. He’ll be popping in to share fatherhood topics, as well as his fitness journey and things he loves that other dads can relate to. I’m also looking forward to doing some fun posts by the both of us, so we’ll see how that pans out.
Aesthetically, I felt like it was time for a change. I have loved my logo and colors, but was in the mood for something a little more neutral and simple. Since Adam is going to start posting on here some, I figured now was a good time to make the update. I went with gold and navy, with a little hint of plum, playing off our family photos that are now in the updated About section. I also felt like Fitness, Parenting, and Life spoke more accurately to the type of content I want to continue to focus on.
All of that to say, thanks for reading, even with the changes! If you have any topic ideas for him, or me, or the two of us, let us know! Feel free to email them, or comment below.
