Weekend Recap: How I’m Feeling, Pedis, and Big Bellies

A little bit late, but I wanted to recap our weekend before I forgot. I honestly thought maybe this was going to be THE weekend when everything happened, but to no avail, baby girl stayed put and we are off to another week! A selfish part of me is a little frustrated and feeling impatient, but I know she needs to stay put until at least 39 weeks so she’s 100% full term. I am trying to soak up and enjoy every last minute of this pregnancy, but whew, I am tired! I really feel like these next ~12 days are going to be the ultimate test of my patience, but I know it’s a must! Adeline really needs to stay put a little while longer, but I sure am ready to meet her! At least I think I am. I’m not ready for life to change so drastically, which I still can’t wrap my head around. And with each day that passes I become a little more sad that it’s not just going to be me and Adam anymore. It’s really a strange concept to try and grasp.

Anyways, this weekend I treated myself to a fabulous deluxe pedicure, and it was worth every penny. I would go back today and get it done again if I could, it was that relaxing! I normally don’t splurge for the “next level up” pedicure, but I couldn’t resist. Who knows when I’ll be back! Also, I deserve it. I’ve literally GROWN A HUMAN for the past 38 weeks. NBD.

A sweet little guy did my pedicure, and while I sometimes find men-pedicure-ists to be a little weird, he was excellent! I think it’s kind of like going to get a massage and you get a dude – it’s a little weird, but they are SO much stronger than your typical woman and my feet and ankles were oh so thankful for a little extra strength! He was definitely not shy in asking me all about my obvious bump, including letting me know that it looked like I was for sure carrying an 8 pounder.

I went with an OPI hot pink/purpley/berry color, and I am loving it. I hope it doesn’t go anywhere anytime soon because I need it to stay on until at least after I’ve had her!

Saturday night, we headed out to dinner to celebrate Adam’s birthday (which was actually yesterday) with a feast of tacos and cheese dip at our local fave. We stuffed our bellies, and I think we both enjoyed what may be one of our last date nights. (I’m betting we’ll have another date night this weekend though, but who knows!)

After dinner, we stopped by a small pub close to our house so I could see a few minutes of the TN/AR game. (We don’t have cable, or else I’d watch it at home.) I’ve been waiting to see this match up for a few years now and when I heard they were finally playing each other again I knew I had to watch! I grew up a Vols fan, but since living in AR I’ve morphed into a Hogs fan. And, Adeline is about to be a true Arkansan, so naturally, I had to cheer against my roots and go for AR. And much to my surprise, they WON!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday we headed to church, then ran a few errands afterwards before I realized I needed to lay down and just relax. I felt really “fever-ish” and just worn down, so I spent the night tucked away on the couch, watching Revenge from the very beginning on Netflix. I’m feeling better now, I must have just been starting to fight a little bug off. Yesterday I was able to take a short walk outside, and the fresh air seemed to also help. It was a beautiful day, only about 70 degrees, and if I wasn’t hauling a pumpkin around with me I could have walked forever.

And here we are at yet another week. I’m trying to get through the week day-by-day now, with hopes that the week goes by quickly. Each day that passes means we’re one step closer to meeting Adeline and she’s one day healthier!!

Before I go, I’ve noticed that I’ve officially hit the mark in pregnancy where I get all sorts of comments. It’s really hilarious. Here are a few that stood out more recently:

-(At Sam’s Club) “If you have it here, will you name it like, Sam or Samantha? You’re kind of scaring me. Be careful!”

-“Giiirrrl you is pregnant! You got twins in there?!”

-“You’re about to pop.”

-“You look like you’re smuggling a basketball!”

-“You’re definitely having a boy, I can tell by how round you are.”

-“Might I suggest a name? Aliyah is nice. That’s what I would name it.”

And my favorite/not-so-favorite because I don’t understand why it even matters to anyone other than Adam or I…

-“Are you getting an epidural?!”

Have a great rest of your day! I’m hoping to share a quick review of my diaper bag at some point, so check back!

Did you receive funny comments? What were they? Did you treat yourself to a pedicure? How do you help pass time when you’re just waiting?

Ahh- waiting is so tough! I’m going to get my hair done, eyebrows done and a mani/pedi this week so I’m feeling pampered and ready. A part of me wants one last weekend, but I would be happy for him to come this weekend as well. We shall see!!!

hang in there! I somehow envisioned being late so didn’t get too antsy til 40 weeks and then was so impatient the final week (just had her at 41 weeks 1 day). I definitely splurged on the upgraded pedi with additional 10 min mAssage!

I love the sam’s club comment!

Oh, girrrrl! I feel your pain! I remember setting myself up for thinking it was going to be a certain weekend, made no plans and of course, nothing happened! In hindsight, I was SO freaking impatient and was walking and drinking tea and all the things to get this baby going. But Claire was barely 6 pounds when she was born! If she had been before even a few weeks early, I think she would have been too small and had to stay in the NICU, so I am really glad she was born at 40 weeks! It’s definitely easier to say this now that she is here though! When she was in, I was like OMG who even cares just give me my body back!

Those are THE weirdest comments. One of my coworkers (a guy, mind you) told me why I should get the epidural right away. I was like uh, excuse me but are YOU going to be with me in labor? Are YOU going to give birth to this child? NO? Oh okay… that’s what I thought. It was so awkward. I don’t know where people come up with these things!

You are doing great mama. I cannot wait to here about your beauty’s arrival! It WILL be soon even though it feels like 500 years 🙁

I did get a pedicure before my daughter was born, and then I ended up wearing socks the entire time I was in labor!

Smart move on the pedicure you totally deserve it and much more. I think this weekend is going to be the time. I really cannot stand people making comments. The epidural remark, is a conversation starter, to either tell how great it is, or how tough they were. I would not know I never had one, see how I just blurted out that I did not have one. Have a great week and relax while you can.

LOL! People are so funny. I was getting so many comments towards the end as well. Once I was at the grocery store and this 40 year old man walked by me, looked at my stomach, and said “WHOA! Your stomach looks like its going to pop at any second!!” He acted like I SCARED him! haha.

Good for you for pampering yourself, you deserve it! Growing a baby is HARD WORK. Cant wait to see pictures of your sweet little girl.

Yes! The epidural comment is so weird. Who cares if I have one or not? I get it ALL the time, too!
