It’s not often I make it to Monday morning without having posted anything to Instagram over the weekend. I barely even posted to stories! But if we’re being cliche, that just means we were too busy having fun, and living.our.lives. This weekend we had so much fun with family, and soaking up endless cousin playtime that I barely even thought about the ‘gram. And it felt nice. I would be lying if I said this morning I wasn’t slightly internally stressed about all of the photos on my phone that needed to be weeded through and narrowed down, but if that’s my biggest problem at the moment, I’ll take it.
Weekends that involve family, good food, dirt, church, and a girls night, usually are indicative of lots of memories and time well spent. Our Ingle cousins were in town, and A + B took full advantage of the extra playtime. It still blows my mind most days how big all these cousins have gotten. Many of them are cruising through elementary school like it ain’t no thing. Time is surely a thief, and it’s so much fun seeing them all grow up alongside each other. It’s equally joy giving, as it is heartbreaking. On one hand, it’s a blast seeing what each new age brings, but on the other hand, it’s a reminder that these younger years pass by in the blink of an eye.
A wants nothing more in the world than to be a BIG kid like her big cousins. And so often we have to tell her, “you’re not big enough for that…”, or “they’re bigger than you…”, or “when you’re big like them…” and she’ll respond with, “but you tell me I’m a big girl!” (and I have to fight back tears because that literally feels like a dagger to the heart amirite!!!!). We have to gently remind her that yes, she’s a big girl, but she’s still got some “big” to go and to not rush it! Soon enough, sweet girl! Soon enough!
Here’s a quick photo dump of part of our weekend, Sunday really, mainly for my own sake. I shied away from weekend recaps for a while, but lately it’s been fun going back through and reminiscing! My favorite photos from this bunch are the ones of A playing in the mud. The girl was FILTHY once it was time to head home, but I loved it. I’m so glad she’s not afraid to get messy, and seeing her use her imagination was too cute. If you’re wondering what they were working on – squirrel soup of course! And chocolate pudding!
Springtime down here in TX is off to a great start, I’d say. But, if someone could please come wash away all of this pollen, our eyes and noses would greatly appreciate it!
PS B turned 8 months old over the weekend, so another monthly update is coming soon! It’s a BIG one too!
How was your weekend? What’s on your agenda this week?
