Happy first day of Spring! I feel like Spring happens earlier and earlier each year, but maybe that’s just because it feels like time if flying faster and faster. Before we jump into the weekend recap, let’s take a moment to reflect on how freaking cute Adeline was at the tulip gardens this time last year. Be still my heart! I miss her huge smiling stage – I thought for sure that’s how she’d always smile.
Anyways, another weekend come and gone, way quicker than I’d prefer. We stayed pretty low key this weekend, and didn’t do anything overly exciting. These types of weekends are much needed though, and now that the weather is getting nice, I’m perfectly content watching Adeline play inside with all the windows open.
I’d say my highlight from the weekend, in case you missed it on Instagram yesterday, was Adeline’s birthday dress she finally got to wear! A sweet family friend gifted it to her back in October, but it’s been too big up until now. It’s still a little long, but I’m just smitten by it! The brand is Monsoon UK, and I’m LOVING it so much! It’s covered in everything London – Corgis, squirrels, Big Ben, The London Eye, etc. It’s so precious, and I’m so glad I was finally able to put her in it! Dressing little girls is so much fun, and I’m soaking up every minute that she will let me choose what she wears. I hope she always loves sweet dresses! (But if she’s anything like her mother, it might be short-lived!)
The rest of the weekend was spent, like I mentioned above, playing inside with the windows open. The weather was so nice that I couldn’t help but let in a little fresh air. I also set up Adeline’s new little table and chairs, and made her a designated play space in the living room. I pulled out her highchair banner from her birthday party, put her crayons in a mason jar, and called it a day! She seems to love her little area, and is constantly running over to sit in her chairs and color! It really is the cutest thing and I know she knows it’s “her space.” We got the table/chair set and felt food from IKEA, thanks to a recommendation from my friend Kylie!
I’ve got SO MANY ideas and dreams for a future playroom that I keep a running list on my phone of how I’d decorate. I’m so, so, so, so hoping 2017 is the year we make our big move and find a new home where we can raise our family, and a playroom is on my absolutely-no-questions-asked-must-have-list. Our current house is pretty much maxed out. Like, for real. I’m not even sure how I found the space for Adeline’s little table, but somehow it fits perfect between some other furniture pieces and is really all she needs right now! But even though it feels like every square inch in our house is occupied, I wouldn’t have it any other way at the moment. Our first home together is exactly that – a home, not a house. It’s full of love, and memories galore.
Sometime this week I’ll finally be sharing a fun 28th birthday inspired strength workout! If I can ever get my act together and make an image for it, I mean. In the meantime, I have been terrible at Instagram’ing my workouts, but I AM still working out! I’ve been doing arm weights almost every night while we watch TV, and working on strength training at the gym. I’m really trying to tone up, and focus on getting back into good shape before I get pregnant again. I feel like I stayed in decent shape while pregnant with Adeline, but because I wasn’t really lifting weights beforehand, I was too nervous to start after getting pregnant, just to be safe. This next go around though, I really want to go into pregnancy feeling strong, and capable of lifting weights throughout my entire pregnancy. (Disclaimer: not pregnant right now, so don’t read too much into that!)
This week’s goal: 3 workouts. I only made it to the gym once last week, and even though I worked out at home, it’s just not the same. I need to get back in for some cardio too!
