This weekend was exhausting, but in the best possible way. There was lots of family time had, lots of delicious food enjoyed, and lots of cleaning, organizing, and decluttering. And a bloody lip. And a goose egg. NBD.
Who loves a good cleaning purge like I do? It’s amazing how much STUFF and trash you can get rid of when you actually take the time to do it. We’re still working on it, but this weekend we made a pretty big dent in really narrowing down our needs. And it feels. so. so. good.
Let’s back up though. Because we didn’t just clean all weekend. We actually packed in quite a bit.
Friday after work, we took a family walk down to the playground where Adeline played her little heart out. Correction, I walked her down to the playground, then Adam and Truckee surprised us there! I wish I would have recorded the moment Adeline saw them approaching the playground and ran full speed towards them giggling and yelling, “dada!!” It was too precious.
Friday night we decided to keep things simple and opted to pick up a pizza. Then in usual lame parent style, we were both in bed by 9:30. No shame in that game. Anyone else just pooped from last week?
Saturday, we took it slow before starting a crazy busy day. Adam was displaying Ingle Woodcraft at a local festival, Alpacapalooza, so he had to be out of the house and set up pretty early. While he was setting up, Adeline and I had quite the adventure at home. She fell and somehow busted her lip, resulting in way more blood than this mama would like to see, and a slight freakout. She ended up being totally fine, and I’m still not even really sure what was bleeding in her mouth – her lip, gum, or cheek. Either way, her mouth was gushing blood, so I gave her a cold wet washcloth and got her all cleaned up, and she got over it pretty fast. Chalk that up to first time motherhood!
After that llama drama, we headed to Alpacapalooza and spent a couple hours letting Adeline feed the alpacas, obsess over the alpacas, and squeal at the alpacas. Then run around the cage of alpacas. Then feed the alpacas again. This girl LOVVVVVED the alpacas. Let’s just call them llamas though, ok? I really don’t know the difference, but some little kid corrected me. The festival was super cute though, and Adam had a great showing and sold some of his inventory! The day couldn’t have been more beautiful, not a single cloud in the sky. EtsyFest is coming up at the end of the month, so Alpacapalooza was a great warmup!
Around lunchtime, I headed home with my sleepy llama loving child, and got her put down for a long nap. She actually passed OUT on the way home, then didn’t wake up until like 3 hours later. I actually had to wake her up, she was so tired!
Saturday afternoon before Adam got home, Adeline and I once again had another little adventure. She rolled off the couch and hit her head on the hardwood floor before I could catch her – resulting in a nice goose egg on the side of her head. I’m going to now need to WRAP HER IN BUBBLE WRAP..
Sunday morning, we headed to church and I had nursery duty again. It’s so fun getting to watch Adeline play and interact with the other kids while I’m in there, but she does definitely get jealous sometimes of me holding other babies. She seems to get over it pretty quick after some reassurance, so I don’t think it’s a huge issue as of now. I think it’s good for her actually! Practice for the future, for sure.
Sunday afternoon, Adeline took another great nap, and we worked on our cleaning spree a bit more. Then before we realized it, it was dinner time, bedtime, and here we are!
This little ray of sunshine was pretty stinking cute all weekend – I can’t get enough of her joy. No matter what’s going on, she always makes me smile. Even though she had quite the weekend, (and I feel terrible that both injuries were on my watch!!) she was such a trooper! I just love her so much! I swear I think everyday that I can’t possibly love her more, but this stage she’s in is completely melting my heart! I told her today I hope she’s always my little buddy. And her pigtails…GAAAHHH. I can’t even.
Hope your week is off to a great start!
