Treadmill Cardio + First Snow of the Season

Hi everyone!

Sorry for being a little MIA from the blog the past couple days, I’ve had some serious lounging to attend to after a recent ice storm came through. We were off work both Monday and Tuesday, and it was absolutely glorious. It ended up being a 4 day weekend, and it’s looking like we might have another round of winter weather come through tomorrow night. Needless to say, our front porch, walkway, and driveway are ridiculously icy, and one wrong move will bust your butt.

After basically sitting around since Sunday night, I was craving some sort of sweat sesh after work tonight. I decided on a simple 30 minute cardio workout on the treadmill, including some decent hill work. I got a late start to the gym, so I didn’t have much time before I needed to get home to cook dinner, but 30 minutes hit the spot. Even a little bit goes a long way! Speaking of a little bit, I also recently purchased a kettle bell for us to keep at home. I’m anxious to begin adding to our at-home fitness equipment, so we’ll see if this lone kettle bell sees any action!

After all of this snow stuff (I say that like it’s been an awful winter this year, which it hasn’t, it’s been stupid mild), I am already anxiously awaiting Daylight Savings and much warmer days!!! I can’t WAIT to run outside at night after work again! This girl needs some sunshine!!

Since this was the first “big deal” snow/ice storm of the season, I figured I’d document it while it lasted. The past two years we’ve been in this house we’ve had really bad winters, including a legitimate BLIZZARD during our first Christmas. This winter storm however, while not too too damaging, was just enough to shut down Arkansas, and close schools for a few days. Even though AR may not get much snow snow, we get ice, sleet, and freezing rain, which are equally if not more crappy and dangerous! I’m sure you northern readers are laughing, but winter in the south is just different.

Monday morning as soon as we woke up and realized we wouldn’t be heading to work, we took Miss Truckee out to play. Here are a few photos from her joyful romp, and a few around the house.

I also recently received a new pair of Under Armour shoes to test out, and I can’t wait to share! I’m sure you’ll see them on Instagram soon, they’re super cute, and insanely lightweight!

Alright peeps, have a great night!

What’s your favorite kind of cardio? Do you enjoy doing hill work? What’s winter like in your area?

Beautiful photos of the snow! Oh yes…dear Arkansans and our snow terrors. I swear nobody in Arkansas is equipped to deal with snow–people just freak out. But I agree, we usually get ice and sleet so it’s justified! Ice is no fun at all. My fiance said it was pretty bad with the snow in Central Arkansas as well, because we got quite a bit of ice AND quite a bit of snow (about 4 inches where I live) up here in NWA. Hope you all stay warm!

Aww Truckee is so sweet! Our Bella is the only one in the house who’s been excited about snow haha. We were snowed in for a while too, so my kettlebell got a lot of action this week. It’s probably one of the best pieces of exercise equipment you can keep at home in my opinion, so I know you’re gonna love having one!

    I love that red vest!
We had terrible ice too. I had to cancel a neighborhood get together tonight because no one would be able to safely get to any door in our house w/o walking over an ice skating rink. SIgh!!!

    Gorgeous pics!

Wow, beautiful photos! What kind of camera do you use, if you don’t mind my asking? And I’m in the northeast, so yes, we do have TONS of snow! you’re kind of right though, I’d rather have that than ice and sleet (although frankly I’d rather just move to Hawaii and have none of this winter weather business!).
