So if there’s one thing we’ve learned during our first year of marriage, it’s that communication is key. And maybe it’s a work in progress…Tonight as I was heading out for my run, Adam was getting ready to head to the grocery store. Now, Kroger is only 2 miles from our house, so I got the bright idea that I would run hard to Kroger and surprise Adam while he was there, grab a cool drink while I’m there, then run home. So I did. I ran an 8:20, and an 8:22 to get there in time, walked in, grabbed a water out of one of the checkout lines, and texted him to see where he was so I could go find him and finish up the shopping with him while I cooled down a little. Except that when I asked where he was, as in what AISLE was he in, he said “I just got to Walmart.”
I was already halfway done with this water, and looked like a drenched-in-sweat sloppy runner who was oddly carrying a half empty bottle of Dasani around Kroger.HAHAHAHA oops. We NEVER grocery shop at Walmart. WALMART! WHAT??? Of course this would be the one time he goes to Walmart. So I calmly told him that while that was fine and dandy, he would need to come by Kroger and pay for this water. He was so thrilled with this idea of mine…HA. I really did have good intentions! So once he finished up at Walmart, he finally made it back by Kroger, finished up our grocery shopping, and paid for my bottle of water. Then I ran half way home, and he drove me the rest. Because it was hot. Really hot.
So that was a fun adventure that backfired! Good story, eh? Moving on.
Once we got home, I had PROMISED Truckee that I would take her for a run. And when you promise this dog something, she doesn’t let you forget it! I thought she was going to backflip out the front door when I hooked the leash on her. I took her up the street, up the big hill and back down to our house. She was FLYING!!! If you want something to make you RUN up hills FASTER, get a lab. She kept looking up at me like, “come on mom! you said you’d run with me! run faster! come on!” And then when we turned around and headed back down the hill, I was a little paranoid I might trip and fall on my face we were going so fast! I haven’t sprinted that fast in a long time! She didn’t pull on the leash either, she stayed right by my side. Truckee could be MY trainer! We just did .6 of a mile, but it felt like much more. I think Truckee got enough exercise out of it because she’s been doing nothing but flopping on the floor all night. Must be nice.
In other news, I’m getting more and more used to my new Garmin, and I can’t wait to review it! I’m still making sure I’ve got it all figured out before I do so! Tonight I’m getting it all hooked up on Garmin Connect! It’s pretty neat that you can plug your gps into your computer and upload all of the data you’ve collected on it. I’m excited to start playing around with it more!
Also exciting, these guys finally came in the mail! So excited to get them laced up on my shoes to support the ONE FUND!
And now, I’ll leave you with my favorite shots from our anniversary photo session we did a few weeks ago! I wanted to do something special to mark the ONE YEAR of marriage mark. One year may not sound like a lot to you marriage veterans out there, but I believe every year of a healthy, happy marriage deserves to be celebrated.
Enjoy! All are compliments to Kati Mallory here in LR!
And in case you missed it last night, THIS girl decided our bed was HER bed.
Once again, she thinks she’s a person. Except that Sunday morning while we were all snoozing I heard her drink out of the toilet. I can’t believe I forgot to mention that! I’m not sure what else would have been slurping from the toilet bowl other than the curious creature pictured above. I imagine the whole thing looked something like this…
Have a funny running story to tell? Usually they’re not so funny at the time, but hilarious after!
