Even though it’s not really officially summer yet, it sure feels like it in our neck of the woods! Summer is actually not my favorite season, but now that I’ve got a spunky little toddler who absolutely thrives outside, it’s quickly winning me over.
Unfortunately, we have maybe the most non-kid friendly house on the planet so I’ve had to get creative with how we utilize the space that we do have. I’ve nicknamed our back deck, the Redneck Riviera. Not that there’s anything against rednecks, but we certainly are not classin’ it up over here. I did however recently spice it up a bit, by adding an outdoor rug, some fresh flowers, a new chair, and then we got rid of our old nasty patio set that was mostly just covered in pollen and mold. I actually only thought to do this so potential buyers would see our deck as functional, but I’m so glad I did! It’s amazing how much bigger our space looked once we got rid of the excess furniture and “styled” it a bit. It’s allowed for so much more room for Adeline to run around and lately I’ve been loving sitting out on the rug with her while she splashes in the pool.
I hope I always remember the way her chubby little legs look in her precious swimsuits, the way her pigtails flop around in the sunlight, and the way her giggle sounds as pure joy just oozes out of her! Here’s to making sweet summer memories, no matter where you are, and with whatever space you have. I truly believe you can make anything work, and can be happy anywhere. Our backyard isn’t perfect, but this little 10′ by 10′ deck has already been the source of too many memories to count.
Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend!
