It’s been a busy, sunshine-filled past few days, so let’s catch up!
This weekend was pretty laid back, and included lots of, you guessed it, watching Pretty Little Liars. Ha! Ya’ll, it’s getting bad. I feel like the show won’t end – I swear I’ve watched a million episodes now and still it just keeps going in circles. But, by this point I’ve made the commitment and I have.to.find.out.what.happens. Either way, Aria and Fitz forever. Sad face. Also, Spencer is annoying. Emily is a terrible actress. And Hannah is my husband’s new crush. It’s really a quality show.
Besides binge watching Netflix, we actually spent a lot of time outside! I’ve been itching to finally take Truckee on some long, spring walks, and this weekend it was finally possible! I think my favorite time of the year is when the weather is pleasant enough to make me wonder if I should put my gym membership on hold.
Our walk on Sunday afternoon was by far a highlight of the weekend, since it’s rare that all 3 of us walk together. We walked for about 30 minutes or so down to the lake, and I could tell Truckee was in heaven! It was a little over 70* and the sun was cooking. I actually got sun on my arms, believe it or not! Anyone else thinking walking in the sunshine is just good for the soul?
I’ve been spending a lot of time to myself lately, and it’s been nice to take a break from the gym. I had really gotten into a rut after the marathon, and just knew I needed a good break! Now that the days are longer, I’m thinking it’s time to get back to it and get my butt in gear! This hibernating stuff is for the birds!
Tonight I took Truckee back out for another long walk and it was glorious. We talked, played, and burned a few calories along the way. I always try to remember that Adam and I aren’t the only ones who need to keep up with our exercise – dogs need it too!
Alright, let’s get to what’s important – the most delicious fruity milkshake I’ve made in a LONG time!
Check this bad boy out…
I was recently sent a box of Blue Diamond Vanilla Almond Breeze to try out, so I figured dumping it into some sort of blended concoction would most likely be a safe bet! I also know how much I’ve been loving mango/pineapple/strawberry smoothies lately, so I combined forces.
To the blender, I added:
-3 ice cubes
-1 large handful of frozen fruit
-*almost* 1 cup of Blue Diamond Vanilla Almond Breeze
Once everything was combined, I added the milkshake factor…vanilla ice cream!
I blended everything again, and voila! A fruity milkshake. If you can call it that. That’s what I’m calling it at least! I ended up freezing mine to enjoy later, and when I dug into it, it actually turned into more of a soft-serve, but either, delicious and cool. It was the perfect treat to enjoy after our hot walk on Sunday!
It was also super easy, like, embarrassingly easy. But, you should probably go make yourself one!
What did you do this weekend? Have you ever put ice cream in your smoothie to turn it into a milkshake? What are you doing for St. Patty’s Day tomorrow?
