Thank you for your sweet birthday wishes to Adeline! We had the best day making our girl feel extra special and I wanted to document it for my own records. The day came and went all too fast, but I think we all soaked it up and I’ll never forget seeing the joy on her face when we woke her up with balloons. I think we spent at least twenty minutes playing with the balloons before she’d let us get her out of her crib! “Booons!”
We decided to skip early service at church so that we could have plenty of time to sing Happy Birthday and enjoy birthday donuts together. Adeline was so excited for her special treat and it was like she instantly looked every bit of TWO when she came downstairs. Her birthday donut was so cute, and Adam did such a good job picking it out! She’s not a big fan of sweets, and very rarely eats sugar, so she only ate about half of it. But the half she did eat, she LOVED.
We sang Happy Birthday, and Adeline just couldn’t wait to blow out her candle. It was absolutely aaaddddorable.
That face! She just melts me. She tried to blow it out herself, but Adam helped her with the last little puff. Then we let her dig in!
Once we were stuffed with donuts and coffee, we headed to church! She was spoiled again in the nursery and was so happy after worship when I picked her back up! It was a really good sermon, and I left feeling refreshed.
After church, we joined Adam’s family for a late breakfast at La Madeline’s and Adeline pretty much ate her weight in scrambled eggs and bacon, her favorite breakfast. Adeline quickly fell asleep as soon as we got back in the truck, and snuck in a nap on our way to Dallas.
For our afternoon fun, we took a family trip to the Dallas Arboretum to show Adeline this year’s Pumpkin Village! The theme is The Wizard of Oz, so we knew it would be fun to check out. We love the Arboretum, but this was the first time we’d made the trek since moving down here. The pumpkin exhibit and displays were beautiful and out of this world, but it was SO packed with people we didn’t stay in the main pumpkin area too long. Adeline got to play, and run around on the hay bales, and see the Wicked Witch from a far, and then we spent the rest of our time meandering through the gardens, enjoying the GORGEOUS weather.
We got home around dinner time, and Adam made a batch of birthday queso to go with some leftover tacos. Adeline loves queso so this was yet another special treat on her special day. After dinner, we got in some final one year old cuddles and laughs, before rocking our big girl to sleep. It was such a perfect day, and I think Adeline really enjoyed herself. Her big party is this weekend, and I can’t wait to spoil her even more!
