Good morning, friends!
Just wanted to check in real quick and say hi! I’ve been a busy bee visiting with family and my new nephew, but was able to squeeze in a brisk 3 mile walk this morning with my mom.
We walked through my parent’s neighborhood, which really feels like walking through the woods. I love it, and the workout we get walking up and down these Tennessee hills is fantastic. The sun was shining, the birds were out, and we both enjoyed the fresh air.
I LOVE Saturday morning workouts, even if just a walk. It’s the BEST way to get a weekend started, in my opinion. I always feel wide awake, and ready to take on the day. Plus, I know I’ve already gotten my burn on, and don’t have to worry about what I eat the rest of the day! (Not that I worry about what I eat anyways, but you know what I mean)
We got to talking about WHY we walk, and why even just walking is a good idea for ANYBODY. It’s not just to lose weight, or maintain weight, but to help fight off multiple diseases that we are all susceptible to! I KNOW my diet isn’t perfect, and I know all those Totino’s Pizzas will catch up with me one day, so exercising regularly is super important. Things like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc, etc, etc, can all be fought off with regular exercise and a healthy diet! I know my genes make me extra prone to heart disease and diabetes, so making exercise a part of my lifestyle is something I’m not willing to sacrifice. When I don’t do anything active for days at a time, I feel like a sloth! And when I finally do get back into an exercise routine, I feel worlds different. My mood changes, I feel productive, confident, and strong – feelings I know are related to exercise!
So, GO FOR A WALK! Please, for my sanity. I guarantee you will be so glad you did!
I’m off to enjoy a full day of shopping, running errands, loving on my nephew, and visiting with friends!
