Saving My Back with Gabrialla Maternity

I received the following product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

If you’ve been following this pregnancy, then you know my biggest complaint, other than being super sick for 22 weeks, has been back pain. I remember having a little back pain with Adeline, but nothing like with this pregnancy. This time it’s almost crippling at times, and some nights I’m close to tears. It’s hard to explain exactly where the pain is stemming from, but I always tell Adam it feels like my pelvis and lower back are being pulled in opposite directions. I don’t think it’s sciatica pain, but more so a result of my body physically changing, and pressure being put in new places. All normal, and expected of course. But, still painful! I feel like I need a good chiropractic adjustment multiple times a day, everyday, basically!

With all this back pain I’ve been having, I’ve had to be smart about how I exercise. I’ve been pretty much limiting myself to walks, and surprisingly, walking seems to make my back feel better. I was also gifted a maternity support belt by Gabrialla, and it’s been making my walks easier and lighter. I’ve always heard of these support belts but never felt like I needed to try one with Adeline’s pregnancy. The very first time I tried it on though, it was like someone was holding up my belly, straightening my posture, and lifting a ton of pressure off my lower back. Seriously, you can literally feel a difference right away!

The Maternity Belt for Running Mom itself comes in multiple sizes, and colors, and I opted for a medium white. They told me they run a little small, so I’m thankful I didn’t go with a small. It’s made of a super flexible and lightly padded material, as well as velcro and elastic of course.

From Gabrialla –

“Our maternity running belt is completely adjustable and designed to grow and change along with a woman’s body, meaning whether you are just starting your second trimester, or going through postpartum recovery, this belt can help provide you with the support you need.”

This particular belt is specifically designed for the active pregnant woman, whether that means running, exercising, or simply doing strenuous activities throughout the day where extra support may be needed.

So typically I’d wear it under my shirt, but for the sake of demonstration, here it is in all its glory. It’s honestly comfortable either way, though. The material is fairly breathable, and after using it in the Texas heat a few times now I can say it’s fine either way on your skin, or on top of a shirt.

To put it on, you simply put the widest part along your lower back, where it feels best to you, and velcro the bottom layer of the belt together in the front, as tight as you’d like. Then, take the top layer of straps, and pulling them from behind you, wrap them around the front as tight as you can, and velcro them to the bottom layer.

If you’ve got it on right, you should feel an instant lift! I feel like it instantly helps me stand up straighter, making me feel lighter overall. It’s like gravity stops pulling your growing belly towards the ground.

This belt is actually award winning, based on my research, and is one of the most recommended support belts by OBGYNs! It can also reduce the appearance of stretch marks, which is always a plus! Right??

You can purchase a belt for yourself, or a mama-to-be on their website, gabrialla.us or on Amazon.

I used a support belt in the third tri and loved it! I had to stand a lot for my business (I had a bakery) and the maternity belt helped so much.

    Hey Sarah

This looks like a cool product. My wife is having some issues with back pain (but she is not pregnant). She bought something that is a bit bulkier than this belt but works the same way to stabilize the back.

I believe her problem is due to poor posture, especially sitting down a lot with poor posture.

I told her to do some exercises using weights, but she told me it doesn’t work haha.

Do you have any favorite exercises to ensure a good posture?

Hope you are doing well with the pregnancy 🙂
