Popping in real quick to share my weekend recap and a few thoughts from the Superbowl last night! How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Did you race? Tell me about it!
Friday afternoon was a half day at work, well, sort of. We worked a half day, then our agency headed downtown to the Museum of Discovery for an afternoon of fun. We were tasked with building a long chain reaction, using only the tools provided. Needless to say, it was a blast. After our time at the museum, we ended the workday with happy hour at new (ish) local brewery, Lost 40 Beer.
Friday night we went over to a friend’s house for dinner, where we stuffed ourselves to the brim with the best venison steaks and whipped sweet potatoes with goat cheese. Mmm, I’m going to need to recreate them asap! Saturday morning I slept in until 9, and it was glorious. Oh my goodness, I could have slept all day probably. After eating so much the night before, I just felt like I needed to go sweat. Waking up still feeling full and slobbish is a gross feeling, and I knew I would not be productive at all if I didn’t squeeze in a workout. I headed to the gym thinking it would be pretty empty, and when I got there around 10, it was packed!
I took my iPad and watched the new episode of How to Get Away with Murder and then started the new episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Why have I never taken my iPad to the gym before??? Biking was so much more fun while watching something I actually wanted to watch! I knocked out 13 miles in about 55 minutes, and felt like I could do more, but didn’t want to push it. When I hopped off, my legs were perfectly wobbly and I was drenched in sweat.
I headed home and made a delicious and filling lunch: grilled cheese, tomato soup, and avocado! I made my grilled cheese with avocado on it as well, and it was SO good!! This weekend was obviously a weekend of firsts. I’ll never make another plain grilled cheese again!
After lunch, I attached a few chores, then took Truckee out to play. She’s been cooped up all week and I knew she’d be excited to get a run in as well! We headed over to the local high school and played fetch on their practice football field.
Truckee has far exceeded every hope and expectation of the joy that owning a big dog would bring. She is simply the best.
The rest of Saturday was spent cleaning, relaxing, and curling up on the couch for a date night movie. We watched The Fugitive, and it was every bit of fantastic as my 90’s self remembered.
Sunday morning we slept in, then headed to church and out to run a few errands before going to a super bowl party with our small group. Ok, let’s talk about the Superbowl. Nope, not the game. Could care less. Not the commercials, already saw most of them anyways before the big game. Let’s talk about Katy Perry’s performance!
Did anyone else love it as much as I did?!
Aside from her solid performance, I was VERY impressed by her outfits!! I was envisioning super skanky outfits, barely there garments, and way too much skin. But I was wrong and pleasantly surprised! She was incredibly modest, as modest as you can be during a SB Halftime Show performance I’d say, and she rocked it! I definitely think she earned major respect points from me! She could have been way more risque, but I am so, so impressed that she honored the fact that millions and millions of FAMILIES were watching, and she didn’t parade around in over-the-top-sexual outfits. You go, Katy Perry.
Do you ever take your tablet to the gym? What did you do this weekend? What did you think about the halftime show?
