I’m sure you remember me bragging on Adam for initiating family walks around the lake. Well Saturday afternoon, after a morning full of 6 month photos (exhausting, much?) we put on our play clothes, got the kids loaded up (kids being both human and canine), and headed out for yet another long walk. These family walks are becoming one of our favorite warm weather family adventures. It’s close enough to be convenient, but pretty enough to feel like we’re escaping. The weather was absolutely beautiful, not a single cloud in the sky, and it was near 80 degrees! Truckee was once again so excited to be included, and I knew Adeline would snooze the whole time once we got moving. Come to think of it, I would too if I was warm, relaxed, and being pushed around by a giant.
I took my camera to document our mini-adventure, since it’s not often that I document something as simple as our walks. Something so simple, yet something that can bring us both so much joy. I think we sometimes take for granted this little park of ours, and don’t appreciate what a great resource it is. We are so blessed to live in a community that allows us a safe place to walk, adventure together, and make memories as a new little family. I really think I’m going to blink my eyes and Adeline is going to be running alongside us, instead of in the stroller! Then these walks will be more like…a chase! I can’t wait (I mean, I can, let’s not rush this) for her to be able to run wild, climb trees, run up the slide backwards, and drag Adam around by his pinky to play with her. Side note – Adam made fun of me for calling a 2.5 mile walk a “workout”, but I am under the opinion that anytime I move my postpartum body it can now officially be considered a workout. #amiright
I think my next goal for our Saturday adventuring is going to be to take Adeline with us to hike Pinnacle. Remember back in the day when we would go all the time with Truckee? Yea, times have changed! I’m still a little nervous to hike up the boulders with her, but I think now that she’s much sturdier, she could handle it. Maybe we’ll conquer a Pinnacle hike in a few weeks!
I’d also love for us all to go camping, but I’m curious how camping with an infant would go. I feel like it would be both complicated, and so much fun. Tips for camping with a baby would be much appreciated!
With all of this extra outdoor time though, comes more laundry. As if I literally didn’t already have mountains of laundry oozing out of my eyeballs. My little family and I love to be active more than anything else. But, a baby + a 90lb black lab + two messy adults + outdoor adventures = loads and loads of laundry! We’ve been using all® free clear detergent lately, and for our lifestyle, it’s perfect. all® free clear detergent is actually the #1 recommended brand by dermatologists, allergists, and pediatricians for sensitive skin.
Adam has pretty sensitive skin, and obviously Adeline does too, so I try and watch what products we use in our laundry. It’s also 100% free of dyes and perfumes, which makes me feel better about using it on Adeline’s things. I’m confident in spending time together outside as a family, getting messy, and being able to throw all of our play day’s clothes in the wash and not having to worry so much about the dangers in our detergent. We’re also pretty much all cursed with Arkansas allergies, but all® free clear detergent removes up to 99% of top seasonal allergens. Boom!
We purchased it at Sam’s Club in the Laundry and Homecare aisle, after we both scarfed down $1.50 hot dogs and insanely large Dr. Peppers. I debated between the massive (150 loads???) liquid detergent or the all® free clear Mighty Pacs®, but decided to just be traditional and stick with the liquid style. Even though I can barely lift it. For real ya’ll, being domesticated’s not for the faint of heart.
A few notes:
*all® free clear detergent is not intended to treat or prevent allergies. We can’t have our cake and eat it too, ok?
*Be sure to follow the directions for use on the packaging exactly, and don’t over use it by putting too much product in one load. Not that I’ve ever done that or anything…
*It will get your adventuring clothes so fresh and so clean.
