Happy Friday, friends!!
How has your week been? It’s finally feeling like spring in my neck of the woods, and I couldn’t be happier!
Before we get much further, let’s talk about last night’s semi-workout!
Since Miss Truckee ran pretty hard yesterday, I took her out for a long walk through our neighborhood instead, and deemed it “leg day.” I forgot how steep the backside of our street is, and by the time we got to the top, T and I were both huffin’ and puffin’. No lie. That hill will get you every time! It was a nice change of pace though for my leg muscles, since I don’t voluntarily choose hilly paths very often! We covered a little over a mile, but a mile is a mile and 20 minutes of brisk walking is better than nothing!
Truckee was less excited about our incline workout than I was, as you can tell by that smirk on her face. Silly girl! She will appreciate these workouts once it’s summertime and she’s out running in the heat with me more. Someone’s gotta whip that booty into shape!
Ok, now let’s chat birthday gifts!
Robinson Lane Handmade Jewelry: Made in Little Rock
We celebrated my mom’s birthday last weekend, and I wanted to get her something extra special, and more unique to Little Rock. They don’t get to visit very often, so I thought it would be fun to find something a little more custom and native to my new town, instead of picking her up something at Target or the mall. Plus, Little Rock is home to tons of very, very talented artists, designers, creatives, and small business owners, so I always love supporting the local talent when I can!
As you know, her very first grandchild was born a few weeks ago, and she is just over the moon. As she should be! So, I got to thinking about something to get for her that would tie in her new role of being a grandmother, as well as being personal and meaningful, but not overly “baby”.
I remembered that for Christmas last year I got my sister-in-law the cutest handmade Arkansas charm for a necklace she always wears. Engraved on it was the word “HOME” and a tiny heart over where her hometown is. (They now live in OKC, so AR still means a lot to her!) It looked similar to this…
I then thought about a necklace that my grandmother used to always wear that had the birthstones of all 4 of her grandchildren dangled from it. It was like a charm necklace, with 4 little tiny children charms. Anyways, I quickly decided that I wanted to try and do something like that for my mom, but more modernized.
Here is what I came up with:
Christy, over at Robinson Lane Jewelry, a handmade jewelry shop local to Little Rock, was SUPER easy to work with, and knew exactly what I wanted! We decided on a small silver disc with a 16″ silver chain. She even turned it around to me in a DAY! Talk about good service 🙂
I told her I had remembered seeing these little round discs on her website with other things engraved on them, and thought it would be cute to put Henry’s first initial on it. Then, as more and more grandchildren come along, we could add more discs, and stack them like a charm necklace, with each disc having a different grandchild’s first initial on it. And if my mom really wanted to, she could dress up the necklace by adding a pearl or diamond pendant!
My mom loved it, and I think it was the perfect gift idea!
Henry loves it too. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Be sure and check out Christy’s new website! Robinsonlane.com has lots and lots of cute goodies, and everything is really very affordable! You can also find her on Facebook. If you’re looking for cute, personalized necklaces or earrings, Christy’s your girl! Here are a few things I’ve found that I might just have to treat myself to!
I love that this necklace reminds me of Psalms 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God…”
OBSESSED with this necklace! How perfect is this for a runner?? You could even change out FLY for 26.2 or 13.1!
Tennessee will always be my home state, even though I LOVE Arkansas dearly! For Christy’s State Collection necklaces, you can fully customize them, choosing your: Chain length, Charm metal, Chain Type, and Stamping – monogram, heart, “born & raised”, or “home.”
Now, go shopping!
