Recent Purchases: March 2019

Hi friends! I don’t have anything too exciting planned today, which is why I thought I’d pop in and share some fun recent purchases. I think it’s always fun to see what my friends are loving and spending their hard earned dolla dolla bills on, so maybe you’ll enjoy mine and discover something new!

Young Living Essential Oils Premium Starter Kit

This is actually what I spent my first Beautycounter paycheck on! Not even kidding. I’ve always been pretty skeptical of essential oils, and still don’t think they’re a cure-all for anything, or can replace modern medicine in anyway, BUT, I do think there’s some power to aromatherapy, and well, they just smell really good!. A good friend of mine swears by her oils to help relieve some of her anxiety and everyday stress, and I am ALL for giving that a shot! So, I finally just ordered myself a starter kit, and we shall see how it goes! So far, I love it, but I do have one major bone to pick with the company. My diffuser actually broke the second time I used it. And by it broke, I mean the button that controls the light feature, broke. It just stopped being ‘clickable’ if that makes sense, which means we could no longer change the light settings. And when I talked to Young Living about it, they basically were no help at all, and the long and short of it is that now it’s going to take probably 3 weeks for me to get a replacement. Why they couldn’t just send me a replacement AS SOON AS I filed the issue, is beyond me. So that’s my only complaint – that Young Living customer service needs to get with it and join all of us in 2019.

Beautycounter personal haul

My most recent Beautycounter personal haul is full of goodies for the upcoming spring and summer seasons! I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the new sunscreen formula and I’m so excited to try them and get my stash ready to go for pool season. We spend a ridiculous amount of time at my in-laws pool in the summertime and this year I have a feeling it will be even more! BC’s sunscreen has been known to sellout fast, so while I was in there making purchases, I went ahead and grabbed a few. Specifically, I ordered the lotion, the travel size mist (to keep in my purse or car!), and the stick. Sunscreens are one of the biggest offenders when it comes to containing toxic chemicals and harmful ingredients, so it’s an item 100% worth swapping out. Beautycounter’s sunscreens are EWG Verified and safe for you and your entire fam. I also finally ordered the Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer, which is our foundation that contains 20 spf – a must have for spending time outside! I’ve only ever used the Tint Skin, so I’ll have to report back on how I like it.

Old Navy Activewear

A few weeks ago, Old Navy had a 40% off activewear sale so with a gift card I’d been holding onto I ordered a few pieces. I ordered a pair of 7/8 length leggings, a pair of shorts, and two tank tops in pink and grey. I was pleased with everything for the most part, but the shorts, I’m just going to say it – they’re totally mom shorts! They’re longer than I was envisioning, but I’m still going to keep them because they’re super comfy. I ordered a medium because I wasn’t sure how they would fit, but I think I definitely could have gotten away with a small. Just word to the wise – they do feel big! I’m actually sharing another fun workout outfit tomorrow – so stay tuned!

Amazon summer basic dresses

I’ve been hearing great things about Amazon clothes, and I’ve been slowly ordering a few things here and there. The dress I wore home from the hospital was actually an Amazon find. Recently though, I ordered this black tank top dress, this grey t-shirt dress, and this black maxi-dress. I like all 3, but, the maxi-dress kind of looks like a “choir dress” according to Adam, so I might need to get a little creative with it!

Summer swimsuits for the kids

We’re not anywhere close to needing swimsuits, but, with swimming lessons on the horizon, and knowing how hard it can be to find cute swimsuits closer to summer, I went ahead and picked one up for each of the kids to start off with. I grabbed this purple unicorn rash guard suit for A, and these bottoms and this rash guard top for B. I almost grabbed him a long sleeve rash guard top that had a shark’s mouth as the hood, but then I couldn’t stop singing “baby shark doo doo doo doo doo doo” and opted against it for now. I do need to get him a long sleeve rash guard though eventually.

What’s something you’ve purchased recently that you’ve either been a fan of, or not so much?

I’ve been interested in trying out essential oils but nervous with little ones. I know same aren’t safe for babies. Also, Amazon clothes are great! I have had great luck buying nursing friendly dresses for less than $25 on Amazon. It was a lifesaver for church when pants were uncomfortable on my csection incision. I recently purchased a Hatch Baby Rest and I am obsessed. It’s one of those kind of overpriced and not really necessary items that you love once you get it lol.

That’s why it took me so long to try them! And ahhh I’ve heard great things about the Hatch Baby Rest! I’ve considered looking into it! Lol totally a splurge item for sure!

I have to say, I’m not a big fan of YL, but absolutely LOVE Plant Therapy – their customer service and diffusers are the bomb, they have a whole line of kid-safe oils (that are also pet-safe, as some oils are really dangerous to pets, i discovered), and they’re just very high quality, especially the organic lines!

You’re not the first to recommend Plant Therapy! I need to check them out!

I love the stuff you bought!! I want to do a big old navy haul. But I’m trying to wait until Minnesota warms up a bit. I’m trying really hard to budget this year, and while I definitely could use some new clothes, I want to make sure its stuff my closet actually needs.

Thank you! Old Navy has really stepped up their game over the years I feel like. Yes, totally feel you on that – I have dwindled my closet down to mostly basics, and it feels so good!
