Last weekend was Adeline’s second birthday party, and it fully lived up to my expectations of pink, crazy, and loud! We hosted (almost) our entire family in our new home and it was so much fun officially breaking it in with such a fun occasion. We figured keeping the party at home would be easiest for everyone, and would make it less stressful than it might have been otherwise. I also wanted Adeline to be happy and fully enjoy it, and I knew she’d love showing off her toys and her new backyard in between eating hot dogs and cake.
Since Adeline is super into dogs, and the color pink, we figured a pink, black, and white themed puppy pawty would be right up her alley. I found most of our decorations and supplies on Amazon, and kept it as simple as possible. I went with the basics like balloons, fun straws, scrapbook paper to bring in some pattern, and a happy birthday banner. For food, we made dog shaped and themed iced sugar cookies, puppy chow, a puppy dog cake, and then hot dogs, chips, and dips, which I didn’t take any pictures of. I helped my sister in law make the cake the night before, staying up until 12:30 AM trying to make black frosting! Ha! It was a double layer funfetti cake with homemade buttercream frosting and tasted delicious.
I also picked out a few fun accents like dog bowls for the puppy chow, a handful of her puppy dog stuffed animals, a variety of puppy dog stickers, and a mix of dog-face photo props which the kids loved. There really wasn’t much else to it, which kept it simple and not overdone. I love how it turned out, and Adeline was so excited when she saw everything! She begged for those stickers all week and had so much fun picking out her favorites before the party. She was also pumped when she saw her cake! I’ll never forget how happy she was when we sang happy birthday to her and Adam helped her blow out her candle. Adeline loved the attention, that’s for sure!
Here’s a look at the party details. I’ll try to share the candid snaps from her day if I get around to it, but they’re mostly family pictures, backyard photos of the kids playing or everyone watching the jets (air show on the same day!), or of Adeline opening her gifts. Such sweet memories, but memories I’ll probably just keep in the baby books. I still can’t believe our big girl is TWO! Didn’t just turn one like, yesterday???
I’ll be back soon with Adeline’s big 2 year old update!
Happy Halloween! It’s looking like rain here, so trick or treating might be a washout!
