Hello hello! Is anyone else LOVING this weather?! I wouldn’t say it feels like fall, but it sure does feel better than the blazing inferno we were living in for the past month! It’s only in the 80’s today, and for the next several days, and I am ecstatic. I even wore a new pair of booties today, whoop whoop!
Ok, let’s get to it. Update time! We are quickly approaching 32 weeks, so I need to get on this before I forget!
This week has definitely felt like a big growth week, whether or not it’s obvious in my picture. I can definitely tell she’s bigger, as my belly is protruding more and more, and looking in the mirror is more and more shocking! I noticed this morning that while I was brushing my teeth, my stomach was literally hanging over into the sink.
I also noticed some pretty hefty fatigue this week. In fact, my smiles for these photos are getting faker by the minute, and Adam has to try to make me laugh so I don’t look 100% miserable. I’m really not 100% miserable, just tired, and typically when we take these it’s after work so that doesn’t help either. I’m so glad I’ve been taking them though, and can’t wait to make a pregnancy photo book once it’s all said and done!
This week also marked having a significant amount of Braxton Hicks contractions, or Myers Briggs, or Breyer’s Ice Cream, or Brigham Young contractions as Adam likes to refer to them when he can’t remember what they’re called. It cracks me up every time, but either way, these contractions are somewhat annoying! I was actually a little concerned last night when after having several throughout the day, I came home and started having them a little too often for comfort. I mean like, several in an hour, even several in a few minutes. I never did “track” them because I knew they were probably related to a stressful day at work. I tried relaxing on the couch, drinking tons of water, and even taking a warm bath, but the bath proved to be a humorous sight. How are you supposed to keep a giant belly under water?? It was like every part of my body was submerged except the one thing I actually wanted underwater. I need a pool at this point. Thankfully though, after finally laying down for bed they stopped. I know things like stress, dehydration, and a full bladder can cause them, so it was likely a combo of all of the above.
One thing I didn’t mention below is how uncomfortable it’s getting just to SIT for long periods of time. Now that everything is really starting to get squished together, having to sit vertical at my desk all day is not the most pleasant thing in the world. All I want to do is lean back, recline, or lay horizontally! Annnnnnd I’m only going to get bigger! Oh geeze.
This past weekend we also took our maternity photos! We took them Sunday night after our shower, and after getting way too hot at the shower, in addition to it being way too hot outside, and just being exhausted in general, we opted to hurry our session along and just shoot one outfit, in one spot, bing bang boom done. Our sister in law graciously shot them for us, and I can’t wait to see them!! She is a child and family photographer, and knew way more than I ever thought about proper hand placement upon the belly. There is apparently a science to it! Once we get our photos back I’ll be sure to share! Don’t be expecting any glamorous naked belly shots or flowing-in-the-wind dresses with long fabric trains, nope and nope.
Our next showers are coming up, and I can’t wait to finally be able to organize the nursery and make a last minute list of items we need before Adeline makes her appearance. At some point in the next few weeks I’m hoping to have the nursery completely decorated so I can chill for most of September. We’ll see how that goes though. Still so much to do it seems!
This weekend can’t come soon enough! It has definitely felt like the days are slow but the weeks are fast, and toward the end of each week I feel myself seriously craving some down time to relax and put my feet up. But as soon as I even start to voice physical complaints, I’m reminded of how blessed we are to have been given this pregnancy in the first place, and a healthy pregnancy at that. In just a few weeks our little girl will be here, and I know a part of me will miss the joy that being pregnant brings.
I may not be checking in much this weekend, we’ve got a pretty packed schedule, but you can keep up with me on Instagram!
