You guys, how is it already time to plan A’s THIRD BIRTHDAY PARTY?! I think this past year has just been a time warp and I’m living my life in hyper speed at the moment. A will actually turn the big three on October 22, but we’re not doing her party until the 27th. We’ll spoil her all day on the 22nd of course, with balloons and birthday donuts (duh!) then on party day we’re doing a small, simple get together up at our church. Keyword here is: simple. (Mama ain’t got time for anything extravagant this year!) Our church’s basement has this awesome indoor playground/coffee shop area that’s perfect for kids to play, and adults to gather and socialize, and luckily, the church had an opening on the 27th so we snagged it. We were originally going to host it at our house, but figured a party at a playground is always way more fun, and EASY! Plus it’s inside, so we don’t have to worry about the weather.
You guys know how much joy I’ve gotten out of planning A’s last two birthdays. I wouldn’t consider myself a Pinterest-over-the-top mama by any means, but I do have a lot of fun picking out the details, theme, and putting it all together. These younger year birthdays only come around once, and I want to make them extra special for my girl while she’ll let me.
For months, she wavered back and forth between the following birthday themes:
- Minnie Mouse
- Pink and Purple
- Waffle House
- Disney Princess
I kid you not. Whatburger and Buc-ee’s were serious, serious contenders for a while. I’m not sure what that says about our life down in Texas now, but it still cracks me up to think about it!
Needless to say, she settled in on a Disney Princess theme about a month ago, so full steam ahead in all things Disney Princesses it is! She has repeatedly said, “I want ALL the princesses at my party!” so thankfully that makes my job easy. Disney Princess party supplies are quite plentiful I’ve found, and it’s been fun collecting little things here and there. We’re not planning on decorating the main tablescape as bountifully as we did for her first birthday, or her second birthday, but I’m hoping it will be a simple, Disney princess spread that she will love. Add in family and a few friends, plus a playground and dessert, and I think she will be happy.
Here’s a mood board I threw together to help with the party planning. I’ve done this in the past with several other events and occasions, and it helps my tangled mess of a brain keep everything on the right track!
We can’t wait to celebrate our big girl, princess style!
What should absolutely be at her party? What decorations should I be sure and include?
