I will praise you on the mountain I will praise yo I will praise you on the mountain
I will praise you when the mountain is in my way
You’re the summit where my feet are
So I will praise you in the valleys all the same

I’ve been stuck on this song these past few days. I don’t know why, but it’s just hitting me in the feels and providing much needed encouragement. I will praise Him when life is easy, and when it’s hard. 🙌

9.5 miles this morning through Knob Hills knocking out another good training run for Outlaw next month! Feeling strong despite my legs still being SO sore! Note to self: don’t randomly do lunges and box steps in the middle of a training cycle. 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴
I knew when I woke up sore this morning that today I knew when I woke up sore this morning that today’s long run was going to be rough. 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️ (lolz what was I thinking?!)

What began as a planned 10 miler turned into 11.5 and my legs are now screaming at me. 😆 (Thanks to getting semi-lost and being unfamiliar with the trail. Oh and yesterday’s strength workout...the first one in months! Maybe should have planned that better. 🤷🏻‍♀️)

This was the longest I’ve explored the Northshore trail (so gorgeous!!) and it def felt more difficult than Knob Hills and very much felt like a solid training run for Outlaw! 🙌 Maybe that’s because I’ve memorized every nook and cranny of the first 11 miles of KH but Northshore today was *quite* the workout for sore legs! Still loved it though and can’t wait to do it again! 💪 Adam held down the fort while mom ran and as always I’m so grateful for his support!
Wasn’t particularly in the mood to be blown off Wasn’t particularly in the mood to be blown off the trail by 45mph winds or impaled by a falling tree branch so I settled for a little strength training sesh in the garage. Not near as exciting but it’ll do! 😆 I’ve got a trail half marathon in 4 weeks so I’d best get my rear in gear and start training for it! Hoping for 10 miles tomorrow. I’m coming for you @theoutlaw100! 💪
I truly believe God prepares us for seasons withou I truly believe God prepares us for seasons without us realizing it at the time. I think it’s only when we look backwards that we can acknowledge what those moments of growth and direction actually were.

I think in 2016 God placed a stirring in our hearts to move closer to family because he knew a year like 2020 was in our future.

I think he walked alongside us through a miscarriage in 2017 to teach us that joy and grief can coexist because he knew a year like 2020 was in our future.

I think he gave us a second child in 2018 to teach us how to better parent together as a team because he knew a year like 2020 was in our future.

I think he led us to the jobs we have now because he knew a year like 2020 was in our future.

I think he gifted us both with a love of nature and the outdoors, because he knew a year like 2020 was in our future. I think he knew how desperate we’d be for an outlet like trail running and that he rooted it in each of us from the very beginning, in different and unique ways since childhood. I shutter to think what life would be like without an appreciation for dirt under the feet. ❤️
I didn’t run today...which is fine...everything I didn’t run today...which is fine...everything is fine...I’m totally fine. 🤪 I’m not sure who else needs to hear this but rest days count as self care!! {As does eating a handful of chocolate chips in your bathrobe while binging the Bachelor. 🌹} Now get off of Strava, stop worrying about what you didn’t do today, go plug in your watch, and focus on what you’ll do tomorrow. Not what you didn’t do today. 💪
A chilly (read: freezing!!) evening 5k to wrap up A chilly (read: freezing!!) evening 5k to wrap up a nearly 25 mile week after a lonnnnnng Saturday in the parenting department. 🤪 Miles always help and I usually feel at least somewhat more capable of this whole mom gig afterwards. 😆
7.5 easy trail miles this afternoon while the kidd 7.5 easy trail miles this afternoon while the kiddos napped. (Full discloser: B naps, A hangs out quietly in our room or her room!) If you’d have told me a year ago that I’d be running 6, 7, 8+ miles on dirt trails, on weekdays, without any hesitation, I would have laughed! 💪 I’m loving this mileage pattern I’ve settled into and I think I’ve found my sweet spot out in the woods. ❤️ For now I’m happily leaving the ultra reins in the family up to @adamingle1! 😝 {PS friendly reminder you can still be a trail runner and NOT run ultra marathons. Don’t fall prey to the comparison trap!}
On the way to my run, our country lost its mind. L On the way to my run, our country lost its mind. Literally. By the time I’d finished my run I couldn’t even wrap my head around what was transpiring. Needless to say my running report felt pretty trivial after that and I forgot about posting it. But by golly I’m not going to let the crazies rain on my parade! 💪 I ran 8 WEIRD miles (see Strava) through KH and I’m proud of it. It was cold, windy, muddy, and honestly super not fun but isn’t that just trail running sometimes?! 😆 Yes. The answer is yes.
