Today I’m finally sharing our fun day trip we took down to Hot Springs last weekend! We actually only went down there on Saturday so Adam could go to a kayak shop, but we ended up spending the rest of the day exploring. And with the city only being about an hour from us, we figured we could stay as long as we wanted. It’s been fun exploring the areas around us, and taking time to see new places. We felt like we were actually on a mini-vacay, and did some serious people watching while we were down there! Hot Springs is much prettier than I thought it would be, even though I’d always heard that it was. The Ouachita Mountains are beautiful, and we made sure to be total tourists while we could.
Sometimes it’s fun to be a tourist in your own state, as dorky as that may be!
We went into the national park and rode to the top of the mountain tower. It was ridiculously windy, and I had a horrific time keeping my dress from flying up! Keeping it classy, as usual.
We walked down historic Bathhouse Row, where these super old bath houses from the 1800’s and early 1900’s are still operating! Hot Springs is known for its, you guessed it, natural hot springs! There are tons of springs around town you can see but they’ve mostly been capped off to keep them clean. I would LOVE to do a couple’s massage and really take advantage of these natural Spas! You can read more about bathhouse row over on the Hot Springs website!
Down the main drag, across from the spas, was the cutest little soap shop! We bought a few items, and probably smelled and tested everything in here! All of the products are made there in Hot Springs. You can actually order everything online HERE!
That huge thing behind Adam is the famous Arlington Hotel.
Of course we hit up the cupcake shop. Delicious!
The picture above is actually where we stopped and ate! It used to be a bathhouse, but has been converted into a micro brewery and restaurant. You can sit right up front there and watch all the action outside!
Probably the best buffalo chicken dip we’ve ever had!
And last but not least, we made sure to REALLY be tourists and buy a couple jugs to take home some of the natural spring water! Pretty neat! And get this, it literally was HOT! Like, REALLY HOT! And it stayed hot well after we got home that night!
Have you heard of Hot Springs, Arkansas before? Have you recently visited a city in your own state you’d never been to before?
