Old Navy Running Apparel

…is awesome. Who knew? Definitely not this girl who’s been living under a rock and forget how great that place is! Hello shopping snob right here! Old Navy is way more budget friendly than my Nike store or LuLu Lemon. Sigh.

But before I tell you all about why I am now going to buy all of my running clothes from Old Navy, let me share another internet gem with you.

27 Perfect Ways To Respond To A Wrong Number Text

Excluding the brief profanity, I was almost rolling on the floor laughing when I read ‘Cat Facts.’ Must. Try. That.

I’m way behind on my comment replies, so don’t worry, I will get caught up eventually! It’s been crazy around here lately, with starting a new job as well as having some fabulous car trouble on top of that. Eh, you win some, you lose some.

About that new job.

I love it. I love my office. I love my computer. I love my big window. I love that there is natural light all day long. I love that the sun shines in my window in the morning. I love that I can listen to music while I work. I love that I CAN FREAKING WEAR JEANS, while still looking nice of course. And I love what I’m doing and learning.

seo job office

So. Much. Light! Ok, I’m a little obsessed with my office, but when you’ve been miserable in your job for years and unsure what you should be doing and feeling like you wasted your degree, and then you finally get a sweet office, you might revel in your excitement like a kid in a candy shop too!

I’m currently trying to adjust my mindset to learn a new content management system, as in the program where the websites are “built” and where information can be changed. So, think about WordPress, but bumped up about 100 notches in complicatedness, and ability. This is where the SEO changes are made, so I’m trying to learn how the program is organized, which is quite a bit different than something like WordPress. Since WordPress is really JUST a blog, this system is quite a bit more intricate. I’ll be making the main SEO changes on our client’s websites, as well as reporting on and interpreting their analytics…Google Analytics, Moz, etc. I’ve already learned lots of fun SEO tips within a few days of researching (and am carefully taking notes!) and really teaching myself what matters most, and I’m excited to keep learning more and really dive into what makes Google’s little robots happiest. SEO is constantly changing, but a lot of the foundations stay the same, so it’s a bit of strategy to decide what to focus on, and what works for each site! Just call me a nerd, I know, I know. But one day when I’m a whiz at SEO and SEM, you won’t be calling me a nerd ๐Ÿ™‚

SEO isn’t going anywhere, that’s for sure, so I’m SO excited to have gotten myself into a field that is only going to continue to grow!

Ok, moving on.

Last night’s run was a late one. We got home a bit later than usual and by the time I got dinner prepped and out the door it was well past 7. I did 4 miles, a perfect mileage for a mid-week run and right on target with marathon training. The weather was perfect, cooler since the sun was almost down, and if I hadn’t needed to hurry home to finish dinner I would have added on another 2 mile loop. I need to remember to run at this time every night!

running in little rock 4 mile route

NEGATIVE SPLIT! That doesn’t happen often, but when it does I’m extra excited. I walked for a minute or two to get water between mile 3 and 4, so my last lap is way off. I wore my ridiculously bright pink pro compression socks, and I’m glad I did because my last mile was almost completely in the dark, and these socks are like mini reflectors! And again, there’s just something about running at night that I love. I feel like I’m running off the day’s worries and stress, and enjoying the last few moments of light, really feeling like I got the most out of my day!

Active by Old Navy Running Top

I haven’t shopped at Old Navy in years, and this week I’ve gone twice! I went on a whim to pick up a couple cheap tops for work and their workout gear caught my eye. I scoped out their yoga pants (must go back for these!), workout capris, tank tops (on sale btw!), and wicking shirts before I saw these guys hanging up! I am usually lacking in the long sleeve running shirt department because I always convince myself that those tops are either too expensive or I’ll just layer and I don’t need them. And then I tried this top on and now I just might order it in every color. My usual go-to cool weather top outfit is a wicking base layer with a real thin fleece pullover on top. I know, running in any type of fleece is probably breaking so many rules of running, but TNF TKA pullovers have always been the perfect amount of warmth around here. But now, the Active by Old Navy Running Top might be my new go-to!

I had Adam snap some fancy iPhone poorly lit photos for me so I could show you how this top fits! Ignore the sweaty, post run look. I know it’s so flattering.

old navy active running top

It’s tailored so you don’t look boxy in it, has a collar that I’m sure you could pop if you so desired, it felt like the perfect tightness, and IT HAS MONKEY HOLES! Monkey Holes are the thumb slits in the sleeves. AKA the best feature ever.

The best part? These tops are only $24.95 in store, and 2 of the colors are $17.50 online.

I have on the size small. The extra small might actually fit me better though because the sleeves were actually a little too long, but I’m worried the XS would be too tight and I couldn’t wear a layer underneath if I wanted to. So, I guess these run pretty true to size?

Do you run at night or are you an early riser, crazy person? Have you tried any of Old Navy’s Active line?

I’ve heard really great things about Old Navy running tanks too. Those long-sleeved tops look great. I LOVE the monkey hole feature! Welcome to the amazing world of content management systems! I’ve been working in a CMS for years in my job. This particular CMS is used for maintaining & localizing content for print & web applications. Yes, that sentence was nerdy beyond belief! It takes some time to wrap your head around the way CMS works, but you’ll be a pro in no time! Hope you share your SEO wisdom with us!

I seriously always overlook Old Navy as a legitimate shopping place.. I don’t know why! I went there over summer while I was in Ohio. I got 3 pairs of AWESOME workout pants that I wear all the time for…. wait for it…. $10! WHAT?! I still always forget to go there. It’s dangerous ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love Old Navy everything! I am seriously addicted to that place because of my student budget, but there are so many hidden gems (including the workout gear). People are always surprised when I tell them a piece I’m wearing is from there.

Anything with thumb holes is okay in my book! I love them. I mostly run after work or during the day if it is the weekend. Last night, I actually ran at 7pm, because it was so darn hot. I managed 4 miles when it was 88 degrees. I was a sweaty mess!

Yay, I’m so glad you love your new job and office! It makes such a difference having a job you genuinely love. I’m a crazy, early riser person, I can’t sleep if I work out too late. I haven’t tried Old Navy’s stuff, but it looks cute!

I am so happy you love your new job!!! I love your office! I think I might just go online right now and buy one of those tops from Old Navy! Most tops like that are at least $50!
I am a morning runner..I just started doing early morning and it is not easy! I usually switch to late afternoon runner though in the winter. Freezing and dark don’t work for me ๐Ÿ™‚
I want to read that book! I have never heard of it, but I do agree with her. It just makes sense and I look at it as a cycle. You respect and put him first and he will appreciate thaht and show more love. I think a lot of people look at submission as a negative thing when really it is a positive thing when the right definition is in place….if that makes sense :). My husband and I do some marriage counseling and we have read and like a book called Love & Respect also. Kinda similiar idea it sounds like. I did qualify for Boston but since they changed it I just miss it. We will see in 5 weeks!!! I would love to someday do it, but it really is not that practical for us now. By the time I paid for the race, the airfare and the hotel…it would be apretty pricey race!

yayayayaya it sounds like your new job has the most perfect setting! The work environment can really make or break the entire job, so it sounds like you’re definitely off to a great start ๐Ÿ˜€

You’re gonna get the hang of the new management system in no time. I once had a supervisor who said that an employee’s attitude is more important than technical skills, because skills can be taught, but attitudes cannot.

Your new clothes are super cute! I loooooove Old Navy ๐Ÿ˜€

I wish we had old navy here, I loved old navy when I was in the states.
Love the top, not keen on the colour, but that’s just me, love thumb holes, they are my friend in winter.

I was just as shocked about the Old Navy stuff! Have the same top and I’m obsessed with it. It has really held up! And I got some capri leggings. They have been super for CrossFit because they have a higher waistband and stay up. Never have to tug at them. Also got some “compression” leggings there. Like them a lot, but they’re more low rise ๐Ÿ™ Enjoying your blog!!
(I’m on of your Dad’s patients. But am closer to your age and “newly” married! Glad he shared this with me! I’m training for a 1/2 right now too!)
